Thanksgiving Table: Nature Inspired

November 3, 2010 by Courtney 31 Comments

Happy November. We hosted our first ever Thanksgiving last year. The torch had been passed and we were so excited to have our family in our home on such a special day {and my husband rocked the turkey so everyone was happy!}. I am always such a fan of somehow including nature. Because we live on the west coast, we see very little when it comes to the seasons changing. But we sure do take advantage of it when it happens. Last year my kiddos and I went out driving until we found an amazing street full of gorgeous fallen leaves. They had so much fun picking them up and I had a blast infusing them into our Thanksgiving table. I tucked one giant leaf into each of the napkins. Next to it was each guest’s name. IMG_3242 I also used cranberries to surround the roses {the flowers are in a votive filled with water and the berries are tucked in between the votive and the vase}.  IMG_3241 IMG_3236 I doubled up on the chargers which went well with the runner from World Market. IMG_3239IMG_3240IMG_3245IMG_3246 Last year we had to have two tables, but I am hoping to squeeze everyone around the same table this year. Can’t wait to see all of the great ideas out there. I will be counting on you to hook me up with some fantastic Thanksgiving décor! Here are a couple of fun nature inspired images from Pottery Barn. pb1pb2 Are you hosting Thanksgiving this year or will you be enjoying it somewhere else? Any great ideas for my table this year? Hello, simply fab table scape, love your runner very much , colour scheme is very inviting, and the most I like is the neatness and no clutter on the table, not with something very ornamental or highly formal… its just simple and lovely.. Idea of using cranberries is something very creative and it give a real colour to your table…

Love the tablescape from last year! Very simple, yet elegant. We are hosting this year. We trade back and forth with my brother and sil, and in recent years have each had a few just "us" Thanksgivings to give everyone a chance to just have a simple day at home with just those in our households. When we do this, we all get together for a big Christmas dinner instead.

Beautiful Courtney! I really love the red berries with the white roses. I definitely need some chargers-they are a nice addition. And doesn't World Market have awesome runners- that's where the one in my closet is from.

Lovely table! I love infusing nature in a Thanksgiving table too. The berries are so pretty…and I need to stock up on some chargers! Do you have a (cheap) source?

I'm thinking of spraying acorns and mini pumpkins either gold, silver or cream for my table this year. And I love using a piece of fruit as a placecard too.

Hi Courtney… I love decorating with fresh whole cranberries, but since our Thanksgiving is in October, I usually only put them out for Christmas. Your table looks just lovely and inviting. Stacey

Such pretty colors and elements on this table! I love including natural elements into my tablescapes too. I love using cranberries for both Thanksgiving and Christmas. Cranberries float so they look lovely in a glass container with floating candles. Your table is just wonderful. I look forward to seeing all your tables!
