Sorry for not popping in yesterday. This week is bananas as we are wrapping up the school year. I know we are the last place on the planet to get out for the summer. I’m excited to be in my son’s classroom this morning for his end of year celebration. Just last week the kiddos were talking about how they are excited for the 4th! Can you believe that the Fourth of July is just around the corner. We always kick off the day with a neighborhood race followed up by pancakes. I found these while snooping around Pinterest and my children are going to go nuts over them. I couldn’t wait to share with you.
Does it get any cuter than that? I LOVE this idea. So simple. In fact, just the other day my daughter asked her daddy for a pancake sanwhich and he made something like this but without the strawberry and three layers. She will be in love when she sees these on her plate {girl has a thing for whip cream, too!}.
Turning to dessert, why have I never thought of this? Have you? So simple. Store bought ice cream sanwiches! Just add sprinkles. I think I may even cut them in half before adding the stick. Just enough to snack on and have a yummy dessert.
Last year I made these little s’more packets for the kids to have during the fireworks. If you are at home or near a bonfire, it would be fun to pass out a little kit to each person. During fireworks, our kids just snack away on these as is.

And I don’t know about you, but ever since I was a little girl I loved planning what I was going to wear on the 4th of July. Truly. We always did a huge family party growing up with swimming, volleyball, grilling, etc. I have such fond memories of those parties. I hope that my children will remember the 4th in the same way. But there is something about everyone dressing in patriotic colors that gets me every time. I think one of my favorite moments is looking around and seeing everyone in red, white and blue. To those of you who do not live in the US, I know it may sound silly, but it’s just a heart warming experience. So how do you show your red, white and blue? While you don’t need to be draped in stars and stripes, I think it’s a great holiday to bust out the preppy navy and white combo. Toss in a little red and your looking festive. I have my eye on those espadrilles. Soooooo darn cute.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE 4th of July. It’s by far my most favorite holiday of the year. We live in Orange County, but every year we travel up to my parents beach house on the Puget Sound in Washington to spend a glorious week with our family….cousins, sisters, grandparents, nieces, nephews. Everyone dresses up in red, white and blue. We have an annual 4th of July Beach Olympics where everyone is on a team (from 2 years to 70 years!) and we compete against each other and laugh until our sides ache. Since the house is on a private beach and Washington allows all fireworks, we GO BIG. Big bonfire. Big fireworks. Big s’mores (have you seen the giant marshmallows?) It’s perfection.
