I’m so excited to share this party with you today. Mainly because my daughter was over the moon thrilled with the theme she chose and was a part of every single detail. I loved throwing a party with a Japanese feel as it seemed different and unique. Do you remember the fortune cookie invitations? Those set the scene and the rest fell into place from there. We relied on cherry blossoms, lanterns and sushi to create a soft and pretty atmosphere. Part 1 will focus on décor and Part 2 will show you more candid shots as well as party favors, the photo booth, and games. I will let the photos do most of the talking today.
My daughter wanted to invite her closet five friends {all second graders} so we were able to hand deliver the giant fortune cookie invitations. A tutorial can be found here.
The candy sushi was made primarily of rice krispy treats, sweedish fish, gummy worms, and fruit roll ups. The kids LOVED them. I also dipped fortune cookies and rice krispy treats in pink candy melts.
My dear friend, Jessica, lived in Japan for three years and lent us some of her beautiful dolls and scrolls to use for the party. Such a special touch thanks to her.
The fans were at each place setting with their names written on them. The flower stickers were added separately. After dinner and games, each girl painted their fans and took them home.
The party began at six and the dinner menu consisted of Sushi {3 out of 6 girls love it}, orange chicken, pineapple, rice and candy sushi!
This little doll was one I hand when I was little. We used her to top the cupcake stand.
The beautiful kimono was lent to us by our dear friend, Kat. Riley loved every second of wearing it and I love how this last photo captures her waiting for her friends. There was quite a bit of twirling going on, too! Part 2 of this party will be posted shortly. I will share more about the party favors, games, and fun photo booth we set up. I just can’t believe my baby girl is 8. When did that happen. She is a constant source of joy and laughter in this house. We are indeed blessed.
