I am over the moon excited to finally have drapes in our living room. I have been on the search since we moved in {um. . .six years ago} to find exactly what I was looking for. Alas, it has happened. My very sweet hubby worked hard to hang them for me this week . . amidst the craziness of getting ready for Haven. I couldn’t wait to show you so here is a look a the new semi-custom drapes! .. Part of why it has taken so long is that this room is not huge and with our sectional, the drapery positioning was a bit tricky. I new I wanted drapes on both walls and finally figured out a corner rod that could pull it all together. We ended up using plumping pipes that could be used on a 90 degree angle. … … A full shot above shows how they tie everything together. I waited a long time for these! I fell in love with these drapes at HomeGoods. I couldn’t believe my eyes. I have had fabric samples sent to my house for years. No, seriously. Nothing has ever really jumped out at me. I have a ton of samples because of that. I knew these were perfect but they were 84 inches. If anyone out there is listening. . . why? Why make 84” drapes. But that wasn’t stopping me. I will show you how I customized these babies in an upcoming post. You can see the white panels I added to each in the image above. Why I love the fabric for this room: Overall they are a nice neutral but the large print gives a nice energy to this small space. I like to go a bit bold with smaller spaces. I love that the colors tie in both the gray and the beige which is not always easy to do. And if you look closely, the galvanized pipes are now sporting a gold finish. I really wanted to take the rustic, casual look of the pipes and compliment them with some bling. I love the gold and it ties in with many of our gold accents in this room. I will give you the 411 on all of the details and how-tos when I get home from Haven. What do you think?? So I am off and running, my friends. For the next few days I will be in Atlanta at the Haven Conference. Pretty excited to see a bunch of really dear friends I have met through this crazy world of blogging as well as finally meeting some other sweet friends. Cassie, Carmel and I will be sharing a plethora of info on how to grow your blog and brand through social media. I am sure I will be flooding my Instagram feed with photos so I apologize ahead of time. You can find me @athoughtfulplace The kiddos are super psyched about spending quality time with daddy. He kicked off the big ‘”daddy weekend” by making sushi with the kids last night. I have my suspicions that he likes to really pull ahead as the favorite parent during times like these. Oh, well! So wish me luck and I’ll be in touch. sewing tutorial for lengthening drapes Update: Many of you have asked about the gold and black frames. Love the pattern of those drapes! It can be so hard to find pretty but reasonably priced drapes!!! I think it's a common thing for the dad to pull out all the stops to be the fun parent. But we are always the one the kids want when they are sick or hurt 🙂

So pretty! The drapes look great. A couple of questions – what size are your family pictures? What size frames are they in and where did you get them? Thanks!!

Love! I love the fabric. And, as I mentioned saw the panels at Home Goods. I almost got them for my downstairs bath to use as a shower curtain, but they weren't long enough. You are a genius!! Have a safe trip and enjoy your weekend in Atlanta!!

Haha, I've thought the same thing so many times about 84 inch drapes…I don't think I've *EVER* come across a situation where they would work! But these look absolutely perfect in there, the finishing touch! I actually think the white panel makes them *better*! Have a good weekend in the ATL!

I have those same drapes for our home office and absolutely love them! Funny story, I saw them in a lady's hands at HomeSense (Canadian version of HomeGoods) and loved them so much that I actually followed her around the store (from afar, in a non creepy way- I swear!) to see if she would change her mind and happen to lay them down! haha! She didn't and I was so disappointed to miss out on such lovely drapes. I decided to take a longshot and drive across town just in case the small Winners (sister store to HomeSense) happened to have a set. I couldn't believe it when they did!! I was so thrilled and snatched them up right away!! I felt extra cool when I saw them on your blog this morning as I just adore your design style. I love how you customized them with the white stripe added in too! Gorgeous!

I love your home! Where did you get the colorful pillow. I saw what the fabric was and looked it up but it looked slightly different from your pillows. I just have to make some; it is such beautiful fabric. Also, where is the bird pillow from? Thanks!!

When I say colorful pillows I mean the flowered print 🙂

Hi Courtney. Beautiful job decorating your living room. So you sewed white panels onto the drapes to make them long enough to reach the floor? Very clever. I really like how you used plumbing parts as drapery rods. The room looks very polished. Where did you find the mirrored chest of drawers? I like the way you styled things on top of that chest.
Thanks for sharing!
