5 Tips for a Pretty Patio

July 15, 2013 by Courtney 21 Comments

Happy Monday! Hope you all had a wonderful weekend. My head is still spinning as ours was jam packed. All very fun, but I am shock that it is actually Monday! Toady I am sharing five simple tips for making adding some “pretty” to the patio. We recently worked on our front porch, and finally tackled our patio. We still have a couple of things to check off of our list and once we do I can show you the full space. But here are our five cost effective and easy tips for adding personality and charm to a cozy patio. ……… 5 tips for a pretty patio patiotricks   1. Get yourself a pocket hose We picked up this pocket hose at Home Depot where they can not keep them on the shelves. I am sure you have seen it on TV. We doubted this little number until our neighbor told us about it. Holy cow! It rocks. Let me be the first to say the color is HORRIBLE. Having said that, the hose itself is genius. It takes up very little space and is so easy to use. I hated lugging out our huge hose to wash down the patio or front porch. We have replaced all of our outdoor hoses with these. I wasn’t a fan of it sitting on the ground so we bought this pail and it hangs perfectly. IMG_1992 Tip: Drill holes in the bottom of your pail if you go this route so that excess water can drain from it. While I used my photo editing program to add the water sign, I am tempted to paint it on just for fun. h2o   2. Outdoor Fabric and Rugs table I am such a fan of the outdoor rug. It really makes a space feel like home. We spend so much time in our outdoor spaces so we want them to feel comfy and lived in. The outdoor rugs are so inexpensive and hold up so well. We have had this one for over a year and LOVE it. It is in full sunlight and still looks awesome. Outdoor fabrics are also dreamy. I made a runner and some artwork which you can read about here. So inexpensive and yet they add a ton of color to the space.   IMG_2001   3. Outdoor Lights lights Pretty outdoor lights go a long way in making a space feel romantic and fun during the evening hours. Ours are simply strung across our artwork for now, but we plan to move them to a more permanent spot soon. 4. Artwork   bikerentals I also love a piece of artwork outside. I scooped this piece up from World Market. My kids LOVE to ride their bikes and as a family it’s one of our favorite activities. This sign is perfect for us. 5. Shepherd’s Hooks chair   We have beautiful trees and gardenia bushes that line our beds. However, I can not keep a colorful plant alive in those beds to save my life. Our solution has been these shepherd’s hooks. We love them. These hanging plants have been a live for quite some time now and I am sure to water them daily. They add so much color to the space. 2005   We have them in three different spots and they add just the color we need. I also love looking our our French doors and seeing the pretty pops of pink. 2022 So there you have it. That is how we added some color and fun to our patio but with very little money or time. It is a favorite spot of ours for reading the paper in the morning or enjoying dinner outside as a family. What about you? Have you spruced up your outdoor spaces for summer? have a beautiful day

Pretty. I too wondered about the hose when at Home Depot. Agree, the color is awful.

I have those same coral pillows on my porch cushions. Love them! Great patio tips…but we only have a front porch. Still i could always use a pocket hose and some twinkly lights. And I was gonna go to Home Depot later anyways,so…

We are having the nastiest heat wave here in NY. Hope all is well with you!

Those pocket hoses are amazing but I agree on the colors. Ours is a very bright, almost neon blue. I will have to use your pail trick. I like that! Your garden looks very pretty. Fun outdoor lights! I just picked up some on clearance at Target that go under the umbrella. So nice at night while we're eating outdoors.

Glad to hear you have one of these hoses and like it. So funny with the colors. Oh, I wish our umbrella could do the lights. So romantic and pretty.

That hose is amazing! I didn't believe it until I tried Mom's. Holding out for better colors with fingers crossed. Glad you had a fun weekend! Mondays are coming to quickly lately.

Haha, we just got one of the hoses last week. Too funny. I put it in our driveway where I REALLY hated to drag the hose out for just a couple pots. I love it.

Yes! Totally hated dragging out ours for the same reason. Or if kids wanted to do water balloons or something simple. Great minds! 😉
