Let me first begin by wishing you all a very happy valentine’s day! Now that I am a mom, it’s much more about my kiddos and enjoying heart waffles with fresh strawberries, preschool parties, wearing lots of pink, and passing out handmade hearts to our friends and neighbors. The hubby and I enjoyed our date night on Friday, so today is all about our favorite little valentines. On another note, I am the first to admit when I have FAILED a project. Do you remember the copious amounts of drop cloths I bought to make curtains. I can not even begin to tell you how miserably I failed this one. Not only did I buy drop cloth after drop cloth . . . I then proceeded to ruin them in trying to paint stripes on them. Others have gone before me and knocked it out of the ballpark. I struck out big time. Knowing they weren’t the best set of drapes ever made, I still hung them up. I was somehow hoping that they would magically morph into what I had envisioned. They didn’t. If you look closely enough you can actually see some stripes. Problem being: I was going for bold.
Daughter’s Reaction . . . daughter: “Um, Mom. You can’t see the stripes at all.” me: “I know, honey. I am actually sort of sad about that.” daughter: “Oh, I’m sorry mom. Don’t be sad. I know how to make them better. I will go get my markers.” All I could do was smile. Husband’s Reaction . . . Then my husband comes home from a trip and this is his reaction: hubby: “Oh, I see you guys painted the garage while I was gone.” Yes, that’s right. In painting the drapes {which went all wrong} I also accidentally painted the garage floor. Oh, dear. There is a happy ending . . . Stay tuned. This week I will show you how I took my vision and went full force to make it happen. I am not one to give up. I am thrilled. It has been painful, but worth it. I think! Of course, I still have a painted garage floor. Oh, well. It sort of makes me giggle. Maybe my daughter can whip out her makers to fix the garage floor! What about you? Have you aborted a mission lately?
Love it! Too funny about the markers. Ha, our basement floor could tell 1000s of stories about painted projects!! Can't wait to see what you finally came up with.
You would be surprised at how many aborted missions I have sitting around my home! Can't succeed if you don't try at all…at least that's what I keep telling myself!
Haha–Your daughter's reaction is so sweet! : )
So funny! We've had some serious mishaps lately too… I was spray painting some handles oil rubbed bronze (in our garage) and by accident sprayed the fender of my husband's 65 Mustang–big OOOPS:) He was a good sport about it. Can't wait to see your curtains, love your blog!
Precious! I love how you're keeping it real! 🙂 And I can't wait to see how the project finally turned out… practice makes perfect, right?
PS. My back patio might have royal blue spray paint on it from our nightstands… oops!
I think I see the stripes?!? Either way, I'm going to love those drapes in there!
you are so funning! way to keep the positive attitude! can't wait to see what you did!
Um, I think that would require me actually attempting a project (failing, i mean) and so that is a *no*! (c: I'm sure it's going to turn out fantastic as it always does!!! (c: Happy Valentine's Day!
Oh yes, I fail quite often but then come back with something new! I am so glad that you didn't give up and I cant wait to see! Oh and I have painted my garage floor, driveway and basement floor many many times! They are all very colorful! 🙂
Happy Valentines Day!
Can't wait to see what you did! I've been considering the drop cloth curtains myself… maybe I shouldn't???
I see stripes and think these drapes look great! Your daughter's comment is adorable! Good for you for following your vision and I look forward to seeing your new drapes. I also love that big clock you have. Happy Valentine's Day, Courtney!
Wait – you mean everyone doesn't have paint on their garage floor? 🙂 Can't wait to see the result! Happy Hearts Day! Your Valentines are super cute!
You shouldn't be to hard on yourself. I think they look great. The subtle stripe could work, but when you have a vision it is disappointing. can't wait to see what you do next. I still think it is not that bad.
Ha, at least he was humored by it!
Oh my Word…this is so funny. I love how markers and stickers, barbies and kisses fix everything at that age (:
I can't wait to see how you took the fail into something great!! I also love that your honest!
Happy Valentine's Day, Court!
xoxo
Oh this happens to me more then you know!!!
You sound like you have a fabulous hubby!!
XO and happy valentines to you!
Your daughter is so cute- you've got a future DIYer on your hands! I spray painted the driveway before . . . if it makes you feel any better! Happy V-day love!!
I took a sewing class so I could make covers for our kitchen chairs – BIG FAILURE! My husband finally said, "it's okay if you want to buy some covers." I knew it was bad when he was offering to buy them.

Haha! I know that struggle/frustration! We definitely bailed on a project! I had this great vision to transform our OLD coffee table into an much more modern one and included a drawer it was smooth-ish sailing till we tried to stain, then sand it down again to find out it wasn't solid wood after all. It's now waiting for our big trash pick up!
