An Organized Office Space

November 14, 2012 by Courtney 165 Comments

I am excited to share with you the Martha Stewart Home Office™ with Avery™ line that I received to try out and have put to work in my home office. As most of you know, I don’t have an entire room dedicated to my office, but I have carved out a corner of our bonus room for keeping organized.
My office space serves double duty. It is a post for me to blog from and plan posts as well as a spot to keep all of my client files an invoices. This line, sold exclusively at Staples {available online in in store} has helped me become even more organized while still fitting in with my style.

I am also digging the elastic bands that can easily corral my files or client sample boards.

Because I am planning blog posts as well as client meetings, I keep a ton of lists. The Martha Stewart journal and sticky notes let me keep all of my lists nearby and in one place. I love how well the colors go together, too!

Please tell me I am not the only one who has one million lists going at one time! The holidays mean even more things going on, so I like to be on top of it so I don’t lose my mind!

I have shown my planning binder before, but this is the spot where I keep my holiday shopping and entertaining lists. I also use the Martha Stewart Calendar and love that I can sit at my desk for five minutes and check in with how I am doing for the holidays. The more I plan ahead, the calmer I feel!
It’s no secret I am a huge fan of all things chalkboard. It may even be a sickness at this point, but there is no denying how adorable they are.
I used the Chalkboard Labels from the Martha Stewart Home Office with Avery to label my pretty papers as well as my thank you note holder. I like that you can easily erase and reuse them anytime. Because they peel off so cleanly, I never worry about what I am sticking them to.
I have also used the chalkboard labels in my son’s room as well as in my fall decor. They come in different sizes but a little tip is that you can cut them in half as well! They cut really nicely.
Because I have a relatively small space to keep so many things organized, I like that I can keep things off my desk with the Shagreen Pocket. The pushpins make it simple to hang or you can choose to use an adhesive strip on the back.
I like that I can keep recent invoices within view until I file them away in the Shagreen Accordion File. This file works so well for me because it can lay flat on my desk or stand freely when I am done using it.

So that is a little peek into how I am trying to stay organized around here. You can check out more info about all of the Martha Stewart Home Office with Avery products here or with the Avery Facebook page. Or get your shopping on by purchasing online right here.

My favorite organization technique: write it down. Writing (or listing on the computer) my do to list and where I've stashed tools, etc. is an easy way to clear my mind of clutter. Jo @ Let's Face the Music, jamesonvaughn (at) verizon (dot) net

I need to get rolling on client gifts/cards and some organization tools would help! This is a great giveaway – no one can resist Martha AND labels! 🙂

I do daily lists on the jumbo lined Post-its and appointments/dates go in my Vera Bradley planner-I started hers 4 years ago and they work best for me. Plus a larger to do list on computer paper for bigger projects going on/down the road. Pretty darn basic but it works for me!

One Christmas gift list document on my laptop. I also print a copy of this list for my purse.

One gift gathering location where I store gifts as I bring them home.

One gift wrapping event with my man. We lock the kids out!

One (under the bed) Christmas gift wrap box which includes, paper, tissue, bags, bows, ribbon, tags, tape, scissors, pens…

And, of course, on-going cookie baking, because they never last 'til Christmas unless I hide them.

May I ask where you got your desk from? I love this space you have carved out for yourself; I need to do the same in our family room but I haven't been able to find a perfect desk– until I saw yours! Love your sense of style and practicality.

I work in an office and love to be organized. Binders with dividers work very well for me, as well as neatly labeled file folders. I find it very difficult and distracting to work in an un-organized space!

I've been using the notes app on my iPhone to keep lists of gift ideas for family members. I use the little emoji keyboard pictures for different things. Like a Santa face to show which gifts will be from Santa, and a big red X to mark what I've already purchased. In my pre-iPhone days, I kept an Excel spreadsheet, but I love having it with me all the time on my phone. I just have to make sure to close the app when I'm done looking at it so little eyes don't accidentally see it! 🙂
