Anyone Else Overwhelmed?

September 26, 2011 by Courtney 34 Comments

Silly title, I know! As we are all overwhelmed most of the time, right? I have to say that lately things are piling up. Sometimes that is just life and I breeze right through and sometimes it brings me to my knees. Right now, I feel a little paralyzed. Nothing of note to list off. It’s what we all have going on. Life, children, family, projects, swirling ideas, work, etc. I saw this photo and it just made me stop. I am not even sure why. It seems so peaceful. I wish my desk were cleared off like that except for a little notebook and pencil. It most certainly is not. Not even close.
So here is to starting off the week a little more frazzled than normal.  At the end of the day or week or month it always ends up getting done. And lately, I have learned more than ever that I need to slow down and just enjoy the craziness that is life. The pile will never disappear and the list may never get checked off {partly because I continue to add to it!} And that’s okay. Cheers to Monday and it feeling a bit like crazy town around here.  Anyone with me?

Oh my goodness, I'm so with you. As I was waiting for your blog to load, I was thinking how all my blogger friends seem to have it so together and I feel like I'm hanging on by a thread. Thanks for the reality check!

Take care and have a good week!

I hear ya. Normally I don't let 'life' stop me in my tracks but lately ive had a lot on my mind and there has been an increase of stress at work. Needless to say its also making me feel a bit paralyzed also.

Here is to a new week! {and less stressful} 🙂

I think it is near impossible to have a desk like that unless you don't actually use it so try not to beat yourself up over it. You are fabulous and if you need to take a breather for your sanity do it!

Things are crazy back East too, but Skyping with the kiddos is always a treat that puts things in perspective. 🙂

If it wasn't crazy you'd be bored. At least that is what I keep telling myself!

So with you Court! My fall mantle post was almost titled "slowing down" and I started to write about how I'm burning the candle at both ends, but decided to scrap it and just post about the mantle! I set my alarm for 6:30 today so I could "beat the house" at getting up and have some alone time before the craziness begins! Have a great day girlie! That desk sure does look nice.

Amen Sister!! I couldn't have said it better myself. I'm on the verge of an insanely busy couple of weeks (more insane than the usual insane, that is), and I need to just take a deep breath and push forward. You're not alone! 🙂

I said the exact thing to my husband Saturday night! I am overwhelmed and feel paralyzed by life. I remember feeling this way every year at this time. I think it is that in between time of back to school rush /adjustment , getting dark earlier and the holidays right around the corner? This is when I realize how quickly time goes by. My oldest is a senior and we talk about college 24/7. I can't wrap my brain around my baby girl ( like she was born yesterday) and the financial responsibility. I think I need to go back to bed;)

Ahhh, let me count the ways. You are exactly right. There will always be a pile needing to be gone through and the to-do list will NEVER be done. How can it when every time you get to cross something off, you add five more to replace it?! Such is life. Ah, the joys of home-ownership. :o) I was feeling that way yesterday and ended up painting my front door. Totally random? Yes. But it made me feel like SOMETHING that I could see had been accomplished. Laundry and dishes don't give you much gratification do they? Pour yourself a glass of champagne and organize a corner. :o)

I know exactly how you feel. Unfortunately my work-in-progress still has unfinished projects all over the house, and it all looks a hot mess! But then I open the window for some fresh fall breeze and a cup of coffee with whipped cream in it… and it feels like everything will be ok. Eventually.

Um yes…I feel like I'm running around like a chicken with it's head cut off most of the time…and I probably *look* like it, too! ha! You make it look so graceful and easy! (c: But in all seriousness, I definitely have had to start learning (I am still working on it!) to stop and slow down to enjoy where I'm at…that is the *hardest* thing for me to do…but it helps, A LOT! Take a time out to sit and just enjoy…if only for 5 minutes…because in all reality, that's probably all you get!

I'm with you every day! I'm sure a lot of it is your little one starting Kinder…your schedule and days are completely different now. A routine will settle soon.

Until then, embrace the frazzle. 🙂 Or throw everything on your desk in a box and shove it in the closet!!!

I've been feeling a bit frazzled, overwhelmed and disorganized lately, too. I keep telling myself take it one "thing" at a time. I've been working on "letting go" a little bit and trying to enjoy each day. Looking at that lovely desk in the photo brings a calmness over me. Thanks for sharing this, Courtney and I hope your week goes smoothly for you. Remember to take some time for yourself, too.

I missed this post because I am exactly what this post is about: overwhelmed.

It never seems to end and I, too, am on my knees…all the time.

Glad to know I'm not alone!
