When we asked our daughter how she wanted to celebrate her 18th birthday, she said she wanted to have all of her friends over for a birthday brunch in the backyard. Music to my ears. Nothing makes me happier than opening our home to her group of girlfriends and this year marks a huge milestone. Next year she will be in college on her birthday so celebrating with a morning of friendship seemed like the perfect thing to do.
Riley came up with the vision and colors for the brunch. Michael from Brentwood Flower Shoppe created the most beautiful arrangements. So very talented.
The table and chairs as well as place settings were all from Southern Events Party Rental. I can’t say enough wonderful things about them. The ladies were a dream to work with and they have the most beautiful selection for any type of event.
The cut fruit is an easy way to add color to the table. The dessert trays are from Amazon and look very high end in person.
For the cake I ordered two clean frosted cakes from Publix and stacked them myself. It’s far less expensive and easy to do. I used a cake dowel in the center and added dots of icing where the layers meet to cover the gap. Then I added my own flowers about 30 minutes before the party started.
Our hero. The forecast for the day was rain which was causing a good amount stress around here. Our guardian angels were looking out for us because it only rained for about ten minutes. Luckily we had this tent (highly recommend) and this gentleman to escort the girls to the table.
Southern Events also has this darling cart. The possibilities are endless. We used it for iced coffee and lemonade so the girls could help themselves.
For brunch we set out french toast casserole, pancakes, sausage, spinach egg bites, fruit and pastries.
I am really so proud of the young woman Riley has grown into. We moved her across the country her sophomore year which isn’t easy. She is kind, intelligent, loyal, insightful, and hilarious. Planning this party with her was so special and I will cherish these memories. I couldn’t help but see her as a five year old at her princess party. It sure goes quickly.
Such a wonderful group of girls. I will miss them all so much as the head out to new adventures next year. The house won’t be the same without all of the giggles and sleepovers.
A huge heartfelt thank you to Southern Events Party Rental and Brentwood Flower Shoppe. They were both incredible to work with and I can’t recommend them enough. Not only great people, but incredibly talented and kind.
If you are looking for a photographer in the area, Emma Manning is a doll and captured this day so perfectly. I usually take the photos myself but hiring a photographer was the best thing I could have done. It felt like such a gift to know we could be in the moment and know we would have these photos to look back on.
Wishing you all a truly beautiful Mother’s Day weekend.

What a beautiful event, everything looked perfectly gorgeous! Can I just say your husband is a gem! I remember all the times you posted about him and how he was with your mom and he seems like such a good dad. My husband is like that too and it just makes life so much easier to have someone like that by your side.
