So the big boy room projects keep on coming! As you know, I posted here about my current to do list. I am smack dab in the middle of painting the white dresser. I sort of crashed and burned the first time around {using spray paint} but have quickly recovered. I think I even discovered a great method along the way. Here is what we started with Attempt #1: Spray Paint Because I am all about instant gratification, I thought I would whip out some lime green spray paint and call it a day. If I were really smart, I would have looked at one of Just a Girl’s fantastic paint tutorials, but alas I did not. So I trotted off to the store and bought the green apple spray paint. I lightly sanded the dresser and sprayed my little heart out. The results were HORRENDOUS! It’s hard to tell in the photos but the paint looked spotted and shiny in some spots. Bottom line, it wasn’t going to fly. {I LOVE the color but it isn’t showing up very well in these photos}. Attempt #2: A Quart of Paint So it was off to the store again for some more paint. I decided to have them color match the Green Apple spray paint. I bought a quart and a sponge roller and headed back home to try again. What a HUGE DIFFERENCE! The sponge roller { one of Just a Girl’s favorite tips} worked perfectly! The end result is so smooth and gorgeous. I am not going to win any paint awards with this paint job, but overall it is really looking good. So I am actually really loving the process of spray painting first {so fast and easy} as a base coat and then rolling one coat of paint on top. It was dreamy and so quick. My Big Dilemma My issue now is whether or not to paint the drawers. I have seen painted dressers both ways all over blog land. I like them both. I love a great two-toned piece, but there is also something very satisfying about a whole piece of color. Here are a few example of each. via Hi Sugarplum via via via via Emily A. Clark Tough one, right? Don’t you think both styles are cute. Care to weigh in? Please vote for your favorite: Option #1: Leave the drawers white Option #2: Paint the drawers green Option #3: Some type of green detail on the drawers Let me know what you would do. I want to get this baby finished!

Only because I'm drooling over the yellow dresser… Option #2
Bernadette {Chic Spaces for Little Faces} says
I would go with painting the whole thing. I love the color you chose!
Jen Campbell says
option 2! i am not a fan of the white drawers, but that is just me, if you love it best DO IT!
Simply LKJ says
Option 2! I think it would make more of a statement, especially if you are keeping the knobs you currently have. Love that color!!
caycee says
Option 2 all the way girl! It looks amazing btw and I love the color!!!
Maureen says
I vote for option 2 – I love that color!
SavvySurfer says
Have you considered painting the drawers blue?
Sue
Katie says
Option 2 but add white detail somewhere on it either on top of dresser or drawer faces… But that's just me…centsational girl did a credenza that way and I LUV it!!
Chassity (Look Linger Love) says
Cute! Tough choice but I say option 2.
Andrea says
I vote option 2. Maybe jazz it up with some fun knobs. Love the color you chose.
Lisa says
Love the green Courtney! I vote for painting the whole kit and caboodle that awesome color.
Meg @ Nutmeg and Co. says
I vote for painting the whole thing green – what a great colour!
Lynn says
Option 2 – Paint the drawers! Looks great.
Kathryn says
Option #2: Paint the drawers green {love the color!}
Katy says
Paint the drawers! I love the idea of a bright pop of green in the room!
Alexandria says
Option one! I like the contrast of the colors 🙂
lizziefitz says
Option 2 gets my vote:) great color!
Emily [On the V Side] says
I like the solid-color idea, but that's [obviously] just me. I would live with the green frame/white drawers for a while and see if you love it, and if you don't… you can always paint the drawers.
Good Luck (and I love the color!)!
Emily
Colleen says
I vote 2. Not a fan of the other look really and that green is such a great color I would want to see it all around.
SnoWhite says
I'd paint them.
We've used the foam roller for painting all our kitchen cabinets and furniture and I can't imagine doing it without that handy-dandy tool! Glad you discovered it and it solved your dilemma!
Tara {The Silver Lining} says
I'm terrible at making decisions as well when I'm torn between two great looks, but I think if I had to choose, I'd say Option 2! I love the color!
Cassie says
The color is great, but I love two toned colors also, so the green with white drawers really captures my heart. But I think either way it will look great!
17 Perth says
I love the color!! I think my favorite is option 2. I would paint the drawers green also.
One Creative Momma says
Hi friend! My vote is to paint the drawers the same color as the rest of the dresser. Also, did you notice that we are both working on a "big boy bedroom" right now? I love that we have such similar tastes and such similar lingo. 🙂

Oooh Court it's looking so good!!! I bet little G is going to be one happy camper when this room is finished. Honestly, both ways would be adorable… but I am thinking paint the drawers green! The apple color is just too cute not to use all over!
Angela says
I vote for Paint the Doors Green!
Cassie {Hi Sugarplum!} says
What a great idea to spray paint first. if you'd just rolled first, you'd have to do at least 2-3 coats…yuck.
I love white drawers (obviously 😉 ), but with the lines of this dresser, I'd go all one color. If you're wanting to add something to it, how about a pattern on the top? Just a white border, or with simple greek key at corners? Or even wide stripes would be cute! Easy enough to paint over too if you change your mind.
Andrea B. says
Option #2 – Paint the drawers green. I just think it will look better!
Carmel @ Our Fifth House says
I think all one color with really fun bright blue knobs! The color looks great!
Mindy says
First of all, I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the color. Second, I vote green drawers.
Allison says
Either way is fun but I'd probably go with Option #2. The apple green is fun! If you wanted to change out the knobs you could do some blue or I saw some cute blue and white striped ones. Great job, Courtney! What a darling room you're creating for Grady.

I would paint the drawers, seeing as there is quite a few drawers next to each other, and not just one per level?
Ashley Eiban says
Love the green color! I actually really like the green base with the white drawers- but it would look really cool with some sort of green accent on the drawers too. 🙂 Can't wait to see what you decide on!!
natasha {schue love} says
OOOO this is toughie Court!! I think it could really go either way and look amazing. The green colored turned out amazing! I need to paint our breakfast hutch…like now.
Marianne {Style For Living} says
I'd paint the whole thing out, so #2 is my vote. The color is amazing!
Lili says
ill paipnt everything green with a fancy knobs! great job courtney!
Katie @ JKHomestead says
I would definitely not leave them white. So, the easier route would be to just paint them green and let it be. The more complicated approach would be to paint green and then add a pretty stencil or something over the faceplates of the drawers (where the knobs sit). That would add a lot of interest and really make it stand out. Either way will look great. Good Luck. 🙂
The Writer Chic says
All green! It's such a pretty color, and I don't think the contrast of the green and white is as crisp as the overall room warrants.
Annette {One Perfect Room} says
Hi girlie! My vote is to paint the drawers all green since the shade of the green is lighter! Good work!
Michaela says
Well, I'm going to go with the overwhelmingly popular vote of #2!! I love that color so much. I also think it will feel more grown up if the whole thing is painted. You could do fun white knobs or something if you want the contrast! Can you imagine how many bloggers you'd throw for a curve ball now after these comments if you left them white?! haha (:
Hyphen Interiors says
I'm all for one color. I say paint them green. Interesting how the spraying first worked to your advantage. Cool!
Heart and Haven says
I like the sweetness of the green w/white drawers, but it looks like I'm outnumbered 😉
Meg says
Paint the doors green!
Amanda Hill says
I like the cream drawers!
Tracy K says
My vote goes to option #3. LOVE the green, but it almost looks accidental with the plain drawers. What about a fun stencil or stripes?
Aubrey {All Things Bright and Beautiful} says
That is a super tough decision…I can't make a decision without seeing the whole scheme of the room (I'm visual like that)…There really is something so satisfying about a solid color, but the two toned is so fun! I'm sure whatever you choose will end up looking fantastic!
Brenna says
Paint it all green =)

option #2 – paint the whole thing green. I think the white drawers take attention away from that beautiful green.

Since kids toys and such are so brightly colored I think the white would stand out a little too much. Navy drawers might be fun though. All green would be lovely as well.
April @ A kitchen table for two says
Love the green! I vote option 2 =)

My vote is all green!! Great job!

My vote is for option #2. Such a fun color and will totally make a statement painted all one color.
Tamara H. says
Option two! Enjoy that great color in all it's glory! By the way, I was not surprised to read you were a former teacher. Me too! : )
Kacey says
I think option #1 would be pretty cool. And your post was pretty timely b/c I just bought some spray paint for some furniture pieces but was scared to get started.

Can you take a pic of the whole piece with the white drawers? See how HM I am? I can't even vote without telling you to do something else, lol xoxo shel
Olivia says
I vote for painting the drawers green. 🙂 Think it's going to look cute whatever you decide though.
Rene says
Roller brushes are the best thing since sliced bread. I vote for all green, but you could always live with white drawers for a while and see how you feel. This room is going to be darling.
Jen Kesler says
Love the green color! Looks great, but definitely needs Option #2!!
Tiffany says
It would be cute either way, but I think you should paint the draws the same color. Love the green!
emily says
I think any of those options would be great. But what about Option 3 and you paint green in between the individual panels on each of the drawers?
Decorchick! says
I vote for what Emily said! 🙂 That is a really pretty green!!
Megan {Honey We're Home} says
Nice color and paint job Court! I had the same problem when I tried to spray paint a dresser and had to redo it with a roller. Maybe leave the drawers white until you are ready for a change and then paint them??
Jami Graham says
I think a green stencil would be super cute! I'm currently considering painting a dresser white and shelves yellow or making it all yellow. I know your dilemma!
