Brass Plates + Picture Frames

March 4, 2013 by Courtney 27 Comments

Do you remember a couple of weeks ago when I shared the great brass plate find? I snatched up a bunch of the brass plates knowing that I could use them for a million different things. The first place they have turned up is on our gallery wall going up our staircase. I first shared the gallery wall with you right here. 0302_writing  …   IMG_0240_straight These were the packs I picked up for only $1 at Staples. They each came with six plates which is really a great deal. labels The gallery wall is filled with special photos and items that really mean so much to our family. I thought it would be fun to add the date and or place of the photo on each one. As time passes, it’s always hard to remember the exact year the photo was snapped {especially if you have my memory!}.   IMG_0265 …   I also really love the detail it adds to each frame. The brass plate just adds an extra unexpected detail. The nice thing is that the simply stick to the glass and can always be removed. IMG_0282 IMG_0277   For the label, I decided to print them out on my computer. I created a text box that was the exact size of the inserts they came with. This ensured that when I typed in the center of each text box they would fit the opening. I saved the document so that if I ever switch out the photo I can retype the label. If I do switch them out, I can glue the label to the back of the photo so we always know the when and where. IMG_0284_2 …   pariscollage I also have a gallery wall of places we have traveled in our powder room. I was thinking it might be fun to label each city we have traveled to. I’ll keep you posted. In other news, we are cooking up some changes in my daughter’s room and plan to show you our plans later in the week! … oh and if you haven’t already found me on pinterest or instagram, come check it out. we are sharing our three of our favorite things right now! pinterest h  a  p  p  y    m  o  n  d  a  y

I love everything about this! Amazing what a nice layer those little plates add to your photos. I agree, it is very hard to remember the years over time.

What a great idea! I love the interest it adds to the frames, and it will also let guests know where/when photos were taken when they are viewing the photos. Or if your guests are like me and love to look at other peopele's photos that is!

I LOVE this!! Thanks for sharing! I was also looking for some of these. We had a builder do a long and deep drawer stack in our basement walk in closet for the purpose of laying flat each kid's artwork in the drawers and I wanted to add these to label each drawer with their names. Been looking for them everywhere! Should have known Martha would have them! I love the frame idea. So personal and unique! Great job!

Really great idea! It makes the frames look extra-special and I hear you on needing help remembering dates. I am very fearful of what the future holds if I'm this forgetful at 35!

This idea is beautiful and brilliant. I love that gallery wall in your home. It is gorgeous and this perfect little detail makes it even more so. It is almost like the wall with the pictures and the dates is telling a story. When the children grow up it will be extra special. Have a great day!

What a great idea! I agree with Anna that the dates help the pictures tell a story. One question, though: Is it possible that one pic says "Georgis"?

I think brass plate picture frames are coolest among all types of picture frames. Thanks for the great inspiration.
