We have a birthday girl this week! My sweet baby is turning nine. Nine?! How is that even possible? She will be having her birthday party at the local art studio this year, but it’s always fun to throw together a celebration at home, too. And as a way to wrap up the year of Michaels Makers projects, we were all asked to throw a party. My kind of assignment! A birthday celebration party was definitely in order. My main objective was to show you how easy it can be to pull together a festive birthday celebration table. Michaels has so many coordinating party supplies that it really takes the guess work out of it. So here is our bright and cheery birthday bash! As soon as I found the Martha Stewart pennant banner I knew I had found my inspiration. It has a darling watercolor feel to it with gorgeous colors. From there it was easy to draw out colors and be sure it all coordinated. Just like I found the banner, always start with one inspiration piece so you can easily choose the rest of your items. I strongly believe in keeping things simple. That should not come as any big surprise. But simple does not mean it can’t be super festive and fun. And look really pulled together. For an easy afternoon children’s party {that does not involve a meal} you can keep it simple with a dessert, an array of fruit and a beverage. Kids want to run around and enjoy. Don’t get hung up on the menu and the food. But you can have fun with it all coordinating. Stick to the colors of your party to keep it looking cohesive. That is why I went with orange slices and green grapes. I love the polka dot plates and napkins that Michaels carries. They even have the straws and other décor to match. The gold glittered pots were a DIY that I created here. They were a fun centerpiece on the table. all images above by Tammy Mitchell Don’t be afraid to move furniture! I took our outdoor patio table and moved it onto the lawn. This allows everyone to run and around and play but have a home base to come back to for treats and dessert. By keeping all of the décor to one table, you don’t need to decorate the whole yard or house for that matter. Simple is beautiful! I knew I wanted helium balloons so I used my Apothecary jars to harness them. I also picked up two bags of crinkle paper from Michaels to fill them. It’s an easy and quick way to add color. You can choose any colors that go with you celebration. The sweet windmills are also part of the Martha Stewart line from Michaels. I just adore the whimsy that they bring to the table. And you better believe I will be keeping the windmills and pennant banner in our party supply bin from here on out. Cheers to birthday season. I adore this time of year and can’t wait to celebrate my sweet nine year old. It’s never too early to get started on your next party or celebration – Michaels.com has more project ideas and instructions for you and your kids to make this year – check out projects for Mother’s Day , Father’s Day, graduation, birthday and even summer. Let’s celebrate!
