Well, we survived the first day of school! Riley loves first grade and was super bummed that it was a minimum day. And it’s safe to say I am a bit exhausted as the anticipation and getting ready had me a bit out of sorts. The nice things is that we are organized and slipping into a nice routine. Getting up early was a bit of an adjustment for me, though! I printed a sign for Riley to hold so we would have it for our scrapbook. These came out a bit light, but some of the other shots captured the sign. She was so excited and enjoyed the walk to school. Little brother . . . not so excited! He missed his sister terribly and let me know about it ALL DAY LONG! ………………first day of school The kiddos helped make the rainbow cake the day before school started. Then Grady and I assembled it. And for all of you who pay attention to details, see if you can see what our big mistake was. Oops! After soccer practice, showers, and tacos for dinner, the kiddos finally got to dig in to the rainbow cake. They giggled and laughed the whole time that ate it. Such fun to listen to. I heart these faces. So did anyone catch our mistake? My daughter pointed it out immediately! All in all, a great first day of school and for that I am so very thankful. . . . . . . And in case you are not familiar with Lili from Swaky Chic Fete, you should be! She amazes me everyday with her stylish looks on Instagram {@swankychicfete} and has a blog that oozes with party style. I was so flattered when she asked me to put together a back to school post. You can check out my back to school round up of ideas for getting organized by clicking below.

OK. First of all, could your daughter look any more like you and could your son look any more like his daddy???? Adorable! My guess on the mistake is that you have your orange and yellow layers our of ROY G BIV order, yes? Still, a really pretty cake! Way to celebrate, Mama!

They do look so excited to cut into that cake – and I know I wouldn't care if the the layers were out of order! Adorable pictures for Grandma to share. Thank you for being such a super MOM!

This is such a cute idea. They looked so happy to be starting school! My little ones started this week too. I made them a special treat as well, but I think next year it is going to have to be rainbow cake!

I feel sorry for Grady, but now he will probably become King of the house. Great cake, and as always, such love.

forever ahhh, nevermind! I miss read what you said. My fault, youre wanting those status messages synced up with your phones contacts so it displays it. Gotcha, yeah that would be cool, but I dont mind much to not have that (yet).
