Happy Monday, all! While Fall temps have not rolled in for us, I am anxiously awaiting the change in season as we love to entertain and cozy up with good food, great friends, and long drawn out evenings. For my Michaels Makers challenge this month, I was asked to decorate with fall finds with an emphasis on entertaining. Um? Best challenge ever. I am a sucker for a creative table and couldn’t wait to add some autumn inspired décor to our home. Complete with a chalkboard runner and succulents, this table was a breeze to pull together. Take a look. When we entertain casually, I will throw an appetizer right on the table for people to enjoy while we sip a cocktail or hang out. It just makes things easier and when you are having a big dinner you don’t need a ton of snacks beforehand. So back in the day, I actually spray painted my own runner for a tasting party we had. Boy have things changed! For this table, I literally just had to unroll this awesome chalkboard paper. Done! I can’t tell you how happy that makes me. The one I made was a serious pain in the you know what. I wanted to add a little somethin’ somethin’ to the runner so I just unrolled two lengths of gathered burlap ribbon. I love the gathered edge. I think it completes the look and provides great contrast. I did not attach it. It is heavy enough to stay in place which means I can use and reuse it any way I want to. The little bags that say “Give Thanks” come in a package of three. They have different variations and are so sweet to hold the flatware. The chargers were on sale for 2/$5.00. You can’t beat that! I love the texture that they add. I filled the sweet planter with baby’s breath. It’s the forgotten green that makes for a really natural look. Not to mention it is inexpensive and long lasting. Key when you are decorating for a season. The letters that spell “FALL” are made from cork and just resting on my runner. However, they do come with adhesive tabs so you can adhere them to most surfaces. The brown glasses were a gift from my sister years ago. She bought them at Crate and Barrel and I use them every Fall. I fell in love with these little succulents. I think they were just $5 each and are a great way to add warmth and color. I also picked up a few items for my sideboard. I especially love the pumpkins. An easy way to add a Fall touch without going crazy. I really am so anxious for Fall and all that it entails. Warm sweaters, cozy nights, and lots of entertaining. By the way, if you follow my on Instagram {@athoughtfulplace} you can see a collection of my entertaining ideas under #athoughtfulgathering. What a fun idea to have a chalk-board runner. It would be nice to invite friends to leave their messages or play a game inbetween meals. Love the succulents, they add a nice fall touch to the table.

I love this Courtney! Your table looks stunning. Quick question, what paint color is your dining room? I'm looking for a neutral to paint our open concept first floor, and I love the color of your dining room!
