I have been wracking my brain for something to do for my Christmas Eve table. I don’t want to spend a lot of money and I don’t want to spend a lot of time! Hmmmm! I figured the quickest way to add some flair to a table is with a runner. I set my sights on a chevron runner. I plan to set the table using gold, white, and maybe a pop of color. Normally, I would want my runner to extend the whole length of the table, but because I am using a chevron pattern I thought that shorter might be better {less is more with a busy pattern on a table}. Here is a look at how it turned out: Chevron Runner I am really excited with the way it turned out. I used gold spray paint and although it was tough to capture in these photos, the stripes glisten a bit under the light and it’s really pretty. I will work on the rest of the table closer to Christmas. Here is a tutorial if you are up for making one yourself Drop Cloth from Home Depot I bought one that is 6’ x 9’. It only cost $10.00 and I will be able to make four different runners from it. Gotta love that! I used a runner I already had to measure for the width. I moved it over to allow for the folded edge I would have to make on one side. Trace the runner with a pencil and cut on the line. I then fired up the iron and folded over the raw edge and pressed. Then I used a hot glue gun to finish the seam. {I knew this puppy would never see a washer or dryer so I was going for quick and painless!} I had never tackled a chevron project before. Those of you who have pulled off an entire rug . . . you are my new hero! WOW! I am not going to lie the taping was a bit of a nightmare challenge. It’s not so much difficult, as it is time consuming. And when you are powering through a project during naptime, every second counts. I used extra wide painters tape and it took close to an hour to tape it off. But that is the only time consuming part of this project. A little gold metallic spray paint and you are good to go. {the metallic is great on the drop cloth because it doesn’t come out shiny, just a bit shimmery}. I let it dry for a few hours and then peeled off the tape. Here is another look: If you have tackled a chevron project and have any hints for speeding up the taping process . . . I would love to hear from you! All in all, it was a pretty quick project and my Christmas Eve table is one step closer to being complete! Linking it up!
