One of the traditions in my family is for us to host Christmas Eve. It’s one of my favorite nights of the year. After church, we come back and have a casual night of crockpot chili, hot cornbread, and a mean game of pictionary. We play with a large easel and let’s just say I come from a very competitive family. Then we sprinkle reindeer food on the lawn and curl up in bed while visions of sugarplums {more like hi sugarplum blog for me} dance in our heads. Or maybe we just go to sleep. All I know is that it’s a super fun night. Here are some photos taken from last year’s big Christmas Eve bash! I went with the red, lime green, and white color scheme. The centerpiece was a collection of photos blocks I made for the children. They each took their block home as a memento.
I am a fan of picking a color scheme when wrapping my gifts {cuts down on cost as I buy one roll and then make personalized tags to affix to each package. They make for great décor before the big day.I had found that paper at HomeGoods last year and I notice they have it again this year!
My sister had spotted these cute bowls in the dollar section of Target last year. Can you believe it. I use them all the time now for water coloring with the kiddos or for putting out snacks during the holidays. They were perfect for the chili. For the name cards, I put extra space between each letter to give them that restoration hardware look.
These little boxes came in sets of two for $1.00 from Michael’s. Always check their Christmas dollar section. You can find super cute stuff.
A good friend of mine found this amazing tutorial here at the idea room for these photo blocks. We had so much fun making them together. Easy project and such a neat way to display more than one picture.
Lastly, the runner was from HomeGoods. However, you could easily take any white tablecloth {fold to make a runner} or strip of fabric and add satin ribbon.
Now for this year . . . haven’t even started to think of what I am doing for our table. I will be searching all the amazing ideas in blogland for sure! Linking it Up: Tuesday: A Stroll Thru Life
Luv the picture cubes. Great idea!
i love everything about this post 🙂 beautiful
The table is cute! Can't wait to see what you come up with this year!
That sounds like lots of fun! I bet the children will always have fond memories of their Christmas'
I love the fact that you keep the meal simple. And the Pictionary game! What an excellent idea! And the table settings aren't too shabby either 😉
Wow! So fun! I love the thoughtfulness you put into the centerpiece. Little kids always adore seeing their pictures, so this is perfect! You go girl! (:
this sounds so dreamy! i love the idea of the picture blocks, just perfect!
Very pretty table setting! I love it!
Perfect Christmas Eve table! I'm not surprised to see that it looks like you have the same red chargers I just bought and similar mercury glass candle holders! How sweet how you always give such personalized mementos. Two random questions- do you make your cornbread? Last time I tried, it was terrible! And is that a walker in your backyard? Just asking since I just bought one for J, but I'm not too sure about how safe it is!
those photoblocks are awesome as centerpieces! great idea ~ i might just steal that, LOL!
What a festive and fun tablescape! The photoblocks really set the tone! Beautiful!

Courtney I noticed that you are a fan of lime green in your color schemes. I love it for Christmas – so fresh and a break from the traditional forest green. That table looks so pretty, fun, and festive!
That is an amazing table! I also love the look of lime green rather than the forest – I think its much more modern.
Great job girl!
As always, I love your table. And your Christmas Eve evening sounds wonderful!
OMGoodness…can I borrow those polka dot bowls??? They so match my Elf Themed Kitchen!! LOL I am trying to post pictures of everything I've been working on, but the card reader on our main computer decided to die! UGH!!!!
I love those picture blocks!!! Christmas Eve was always a big deal growing up in our home too.
Luvs!
I love those picture cubes and I cannot believe you found those bowls in the dollar section at Target – they look like they came from Crate and Barrel!!!
Your table is so whimsical, Courtney! I love it. What a great Christmas Eve setting. Those picture cubes are delightful. I also host Christmas Eve dinner. I love to keep those traditions going!
Your table is beautiful – I love how it coordinates – do you have a close up of one of your gift tags?

Paula
Fun table!! I, of course, have those $1 bowls from Target…wish I'd bought more! And megan's comment is cracking me up…spying the walker in the backyard. She really scopes a post out! 🙂
Thank you guys! Jennifer . . .I took these photos long before the blog so I don't know if cropping to show you the tags will work. I will try.
The photo blocks would be a treat annual tradition. I'm thinking it would be fun to get snapshots of the kids doing whatever activity was their favorite that year. It would be really fun looking back at them through the years.
How cute! Everything looks lovely and so much fun! 🙂
your table was gorgeous! Love your tradition! 🙂
There is much good stuff in this post! Christmas eve at your house sounds like the place to be 🙂
