A Little Christmas

December 3, 2010 by Courtney 31 Comments

The tree is trimmed and we are enjoying the magic of the season. We live in a very tight knit community and will be attending our neighborhood tree lighting ceremony this weekend. The kids can hardly wait. Here is a peak into our cozy Christmas. Of course it looks like this now . . . but the kids have an affinity for removing ornaments and re-hanging them in random places. Makes it all the more fun.               Have yourself a Merry Little Christmas IMG_8422 IMG_8422 My favorite story from trimming the tree this year was when my daughter pulled out an angel ornament she had made at preschool last year {it has her face on it}. She immediately says, “Oh, mom, every tree should have a picture of me on it.” Oh, dear! To be a child again! IMG_8387 The mantle is simple and classic with cream, silver, and gold. I didn’t want it to be too fussy. I added a thin green garland {$3.00 from Michael’s}. The only purchases were gold ornaments {dollar store!} and the polka dot ribbon that we used on our tree as well. IMG_8389 We framed a copy of “Twas the Night Before Christmas” and hung a couple of silver ornaments over it. IMG_8393IMG_8394IMG_8398IMG_8402                     I plan to fill the chalkboard vase with some real greens as it draws closer to Christmas.   IMG_8410 Our tree is filled with childhood ornaments as well as ornaments that our children get each year. And of course some homemade goodies as well. The only other additions are silver ornaments and ribbon. IMG_8423                 Merry Christmas from my home to yours. Have a great weekend. I will be back on Monday with more fun posts from the Holiday Haven series! Cheers! Linking it Up Sunday:      Under the Table and Dreaming

Wow, Courtney. Those are seriously the best Christmas tree photos I've seen so far this year. How did you get the lighting so amazingly well? Seriously, I'd really love to know! What camera do you have?

I love the combination you've used of cream, gold and silver. I've not seen that done before but it looks PERFECT!

I'm jealous of your neighborhood tree-lighting ceremony! How great that your community is close. You living room sure is "cozy"! 🙂 The tree is perfect and I love how you put that tall mirror on the mantle. Can't wait to read "the night before Christmas" to my little one- the burnt edges are a neat touch!
