{DIY} Chalkboard Frame & Fall Basket

September 20, 2012 by Courtney 14 Comments

Chalkboard paint and all of its amazing applications have been around the block a few times. And I am still in love with it. Most of us are spraying the glass of a frame to make a cute chalkboard. But the other day I fell in love with a wall of white empty frames at Hobby Lobby. Have you seen these? They are ornate and quite heavy and they are completely empty. I heart all of them. I have been hanging empty frames in my home for years now and love the look. But I bought a couple of little guys with the idea of making chalkboards out of them. Here is how I did it: fall basket a thoughtful place   …………………………………. step number one emptyframe ……………………………….….step number two Hobby Lobby sells these little pieces of craft wood. Very inexpensive and easy to cut to size. After measuring the inside of the frame, I used a utility knife to score the wood where it needed to be cut. After going over it a couple of times, the extra wood just popped right off. thinwood …………………………………step number three chalkpaint ……………………………………step number four hotglue ………………………………….step number five Start to style away. It was a very simple way to turn an empty frame into a chalkboard. And here it is again tucked into our basket on the front porch.    fall basket a thoughtful place The wire basket and raffia pumpkin are from HomeGoods. To add a little color I simply cut a few leaves from a garland I had and tucked them into the pumpkin.   add leaves a thoughtful place I made two of these chalkboards and I will eventually use them in my children’s bathroom. I have big plans for these little chalkboards. But for now, one of them is helping to greet guests during the fall season. Have you set out any décor out front? What are you cooking up for fall? m a k e   i t    a   g o o d   d a y.   Sharing with Rhoda at Southern Hospitality

Oh this is fall perfection at its finest! A truly cozy vignette.

While we don't have much fall here in Phoenix I would love for you to stop by to see where I did find a bit of fall.

    Have a blessed day!

I could think of a million uses for this little framed chalkboard. The first that comes to mind is I would write a menu for a special meal and put in the kitchen for guests to see what is being served. Super cute!
