{DIY} Christmas Gift Tags

November 28, 2012 by Courtney 30 Comments

We are in full Christmas swing over here! The decorating is almost complete and we are enjoying the coziness of this time of year. A couple of weeks ago I contributed a post over at Jen’s blog, I Heart Organizing, about how I have put together a wrapping box this year. You can see details there. But one of the items in the box are DIY Christmas tags that I made. I thought I would show you the tutorial today. Christmas Tags A Thoughtful Place While I already had an “F” stamp {Our initial}, I picked up a roll of darling Chevron packing tape {LOVE this stuff}, blank tags, a “Believe” stamp {a nod to The Polar Express, of course} and a gold ink pad. A Thoughtful Place   For the first set all I used were the tags, an initial stamp and a new “Believe” stamp I picked up from Hobby Lobby. IMG_0021 f   I have a crush on this packing tape. I placed a piece that was too big on each tag and then took scissors and trimmed it on each side. Than it took the guess work out of it and made sure each piece was flush with the tag. tape Christmas Tags A Thoughtful Place   Here  is a shot of the wrapping box I am using for small gifts for teachers and hostess presents. I have already used it so I am pretty excited that I put it in place this year. wrapping box a thoughtful place Christmas Tags A Thoughtful Place And one last look at the DIY tags. Simple and ready to go! Christmas Tags A Thoughtful Place You can grab those blank tags at any craft store {mine were from Hobby Lobby} and really do absolutely anything with them. I plan to use baker’s twine or jute and tie them around wine bottles or sparkling cider when we take it to friends’ homes as well. The nice thing is that there is plenty of room on the back of each tag to write a personal note. What is your plan for gift tags this year? Are you a DIY tag kind of elf or will you snatch some up at the store?

Oh my word! These are fabulous! Where did you find that chevron packing tape – never seen that before. These are so pretty – so much more personal than just writing on the gift tag on the bag or using a sticky tag from a pack. Two thumbs up!

These are wonderful Courtney! I picked up that fun tape at CVS a couple weeks ago not knowing what I'd use it for. I need to go in search of a stamp…love the Believe one.

I've been waiting to see how you did that- I thought the "Believe" was on the computer! Gold stamping is perfect- an excuse to buy those stamps I always pull myself away from! And that tape is super cool- I picked up some in red, aqua and white diagonal stripes recently with no idea what I was going to use it on! Totally pinning this!

I just made these and they turned out very cute! I found craft tape at Michael's on sale for $1.99 and it was easier to work with than the packing tape. Michael's only had one pkg of tags left so I went to Office Depot and found shipping tags — 100 for $3.99! They were to not quite as nice as the Michael's tags but they turned out quite well. Thank you so much for this idea. I'm not super crafty and so many do your crafts are doable.
