Last week, I showed you the progress I had made in creating a fall porch. It’s amazing how warmer colors can instantly transform a space for the season. Well today I have some new pillows to show you! I stumbled upon a great paisley shower curtain while at HomeGoods. It was the perfect solution. The Ralph Lauren print works so well with my outdoor rug and because it is a shower curtain, it is a fantastic weight for porch pillows. And for $20 I have three new pillows. Here they are in their new home. … … We enjoyed a bright and cheery porch all through summer. But here is the deal . . . while I wanted to switch things up for fall, I did not want to have to store extra pillows are buy new ones. So with the new envelope covers I have a whole new look and once spring and summer roll back around, I can simply take them off and go back to the fun pops of color. So here is the amazing thing about using a shower curtain to make envelope pillows. . . there is already an amazing hem to use and this hem has button holes in it!!!! So fun. So for this one on the bench, I slipped burlap through the existing button holes. I might even search for some really cool buttons to sew on instead. The possibilities are endless. So if you are not a master seamstress, but can sew just a straight line . . . you will look like a pro with button holes and all. Or if you don’t desire them, you can turn the pillow around for just a flat front. … … So the next time you need pillows, consider using a shower curtain! So great to have a hem already in place to use and even better . . . button holes! So for $20 I was able to recover three pillows, save on storage space, and further fallify the porch! Have you used a shower curtain for pillows or have you recovered your outdoor pillows for a season? If you are interested in a DIY on hacking your way through an envelope style pillow . . . just let me know in the comment section. I would be happy to put together a tutorial. Very easy. I think it took about 15 minutes to sew all three. {Envelope pillow covers allow you to slip a pillow in and out of it without a zipper}. enjoy your day!

A tutorial would be FANTASTIC! Those are so cute – and how clever! Shower curtains probably hold up much better in the weather than even other "outdoor" fabrics.

Such a fabulous idea. Love the fabric too. I too am more of a fan of pillow covers. I love changing them out with the seasons, but hate having to store them!

I love it! I've heard of using shower curtains for window curtains before but never for pillows. That's so smart! And I love that print.
