DIY Greek Key Vase

July 21, 2014 by Courtney 7 Comments

I had the pleasure of speaking at Haven this year with Danielle and Kirsten. They are such genuine and talented girls. We spoke about design and DIY projects and some of our secrets for making projects look high end and expensive. Whether it be for clients or our own homes, we strive to create DIY projects that blend seamlessly with the rest of our designs. The three of us created some new pieces to share during our session. Today I am showing you how to make a super simple Greek key vase. diygreekkeycase diyvasesupplies SUPPLIES: $5 vase from Michaels, white gloss spray paint, Greek key trim. I highly recommend Rust-oleum for spraying glass. I tried another paint and had to scrape it all off because there were so many drips. This is my favorite brand. No drips and dries in a nice smooth coat {this is not sponsored. . . I just really dig their paint!}. I sprayed two light coats and allowed the vase to dry. diyvasemeasure Measure the amount of trim you need and allow room to fold over one edge. This will prevent the trim from fraying. diyvaseglue Use a hot glue gun to glue to fold one edge under. This will be the top edge. diyvasetrim Place the trim where you would like it and add a dab of glue to secure the trim. Hold for 30 seconds. Done and done! diyvaseathoughtfulplace diygreekkeyvase diyhaven It doesn’t get any easier than that. The iphone photo above captured a bit of our Ballard bookcase that we styled during our session. We mixed DIY projects with store bought pieces to show how you can really save money when accessorizing a room. The lighting in our conference room made photos almost impossible {and ignore the carpet} but this gives you a bit of an idea of how you can incorporate DIY pieces with high end looks.

Pretty vase Courtney! Such a simple project that adds a big impact in a room. Love this. We chose Greek key tile when we redid our pool so I'm a fan of Greek key.
