As the weather is warming up, we are spending more and more time outside. A couple of weeks ago I posted about our side patio and changes we are making. It is coming together slowly but surely. Today I am going to show you some DIY art I made that is now dressing up a rather dull and boring stucco wall. I have been staring at this wall for years wondering what to do. I realized it would be great to hang something, but being that it is stucco, it would be super tricky. I stumbled upon “real” outdoor art at Pier 1. Although cute {and I didn’t even know this type of thing existed} I was not down with the price tag {$129 for one}. I also knew I wanted something much lighter. Canvas + outdoor fabric was going to be my route. So it was off to JoAnn’s with coupon in hand! I came back with great outdoor fabrics as well as two large canvases. You might remember I showed you the fabrics here. ………………….canvas + fabric So for the canvases, I decided to go with the blue floral and the yellow trellis fabric. I love the combination of the two. My sweet hubby was in charge of figuring out how to attach the canvases to the stucco. I think there was no doubt in his mind that I could possibly ruin the wall or enlist water damage if I started pounding away with a hammer and nail. So he came up with these two items. You basically scrape a little bit of the stucco away {just a tad} and adhere the hook to the wall. Then you are not actually inserting anything into the side of the house. Works for me. Let dry for 24 hours and hang until hour heat’s content! ……………………Trim the fabric ……………………….staple away So now my stucco wall has a bit more personality. I am waiting until the whole space is finished to show you the rest. But here is a little glimpse at our new table! And that cute chevron tray is from HomeGoods. So in case you are contemplating any outdoor artwork for yourself, I have mine hanging where there is no patio cover. There is a slight over hang from a window above so it will not be in direct shot of rain. However, it will get plenty of sun. I will keep you posted on how it holds up. Because it is outdoor fabric, I am pretty confident. I also know that for not very much money I can replace the fabric down the road or switch it up if I grow tired of my selection. How about you? How are you dressing up your outdoor walls as summer grows near? …………………………….. PS. . .thank you to those of you who submitted a project for my Take 5 series. I will be getting back to you shortly. And keep the projects coming as I will feature as many as possible. Please remember to use “Take 5” in the subject line.

Love the bright color this adds to your wall. I've been wanting to use that Imperial Trellis knock-off fabric on something, just haven't found the right thing yet! Looks like a wonderful spot to relax!
