So chances are very good that you either own an Expedit bookcase from Ikea or have seen one in someone else’s home. I hadn’t really paid attention until I was desperate for a way to organize some major go-to items in our household. A dear friend of mine introduced me to it. There is a nook near our back door that always puzzled me. We contemplated doing a built-in, but decided against spending the money and the Expedit cubby system has been a lifesaver. To add a little more personality, I hung a piece of upholstery fabric on the wall behind it. The trick is using very heavy fabric so you can simply tack it to the wall and let it hang nicely without any wrinkles. Here she is . . . 
The fabric I used has colors that coordinate with the downstairs bathroom {it is adjacent to this little nook}. 
And let’s keep it real people! This is a very active space in our house. So some of the cubbies are for mommy and daddy and some are for the kiddos! That means there are cubbies with play-do, art supplies, and even rain boots! I love my Expedit!!!! 
And don’t judge me for the dust on the upper shelf!!! This is real life for sure. {and for the record, the Expedit is hard at work in other spots in our house}. Do you have any fun ways to dress up your organization?
This may just be one of Ikea's best pieces. I love putting patterns or fabric behind cabinets or shelves too, just gives it a more custom look. I also like to add crown or base moldings to some pieces.
I have been thinking I need to purchase one of those…you can't beat the price and storage they offer!
I love that piece. Currently don't own one, but have been eyeing it for awhile. It would work well in several areas of our home as well as my daughter's apartment. I see a trip to Ikea in the near future. LOL
I love our Expedit. It served many purposes in our house, especially while renting (no use in spending big bucks on temporary furniture!) I love what you've done with yours – and I love your blog!
I love how you dressed yours up! I also spotted such nicely dressed walls- with the framed letter and art reflected in the mirror. I've considered getting the Expedit for my office, but still don't know if I really need it. Also, your post looks great- Live Writer?? 🙂
