Easter Prep and Chalkboard Chargers

April 6, 2012 by Courtney 19 Comments

We are taking a very relaxed approach to hosting Easter this year. Just really looking forward to the big egg hunt, celebrating at church with our family, and gathering for some yummy food and giggle time. I decided to only take on one small project for my Easter table. I have been wanting to try this forever. I thought it would be fun to have some chalkboard chargers. IMG_8406 It is still a work in progress. I used the gold chargers I already had. Might seem like a strange decision but I only spent the $5.00 necessary for the spray paint and now have a whole new look. Some of the gold on my chargers was beginning to chip anyhow so it was time to switch it up! IMG_8382IMG_8383 Oh, and here is my view while spray painting. IMG_8384 It was all quite enjoyable until a DIY nightmare happened. . . . darn can of spray paint exploded. Has this happened to you? So weird. Brand new can, too. Oh, well. Nothing like black under the fingernails for datenight. Sorry, honey. IMG_8402 A while back Jen from Tatertots and Jello made darling chalkboard chargers. Check them out here. I am also planning to use Easter grass on the table {a fun name for the otherwise known wheatgrass}. Thank you to my sweet friend and neighbor, Meghan, for the idea. And in case you are using some of this, a sweet man in that works in the produce department of the grocery store told me to never pour water on top of the grass, but to soak it in a dish of water and a paper towel. Seems to be working really well. IMG_8390 ย  Oh, and in case you think things look picture perfect over here . . . think again. While I snap photos of this on one end of the table, the other end looks like this. IMG_8396 IMG_8397 This is my real life. Book orders yet to be filled out {due today after having two weeks to fill them out} and baby dolls everywhere. This one is looking a bit frightening, I might add. This scene look familiar to anyone? Wouldnโ€™t trade if for the world. Wishing you all a wonderful and relaxed Easter. May you enjoy the time with family and friends. IMG_8389 IMG_8394 h a p p yย ย ย  e a s t e r

Add some Star Wars action figures attacking the baby's head, and you'd have my reality. I can relate. ๐Ÿ™‚ Lu-huve the chargers. Such a great idea! And…THAT'S your view out of your garage? Goodness! Beautiful! Happy Easter, my friend!

Courtney, I have those exact same gold chargers and exact can of spraypaint in my basement….I suddenly see some chalkboard chargers as a last minute addition to my Easter tables! Great idea for chipping chargers. I see those chargers at Goodwill all the time for anyone else that wants to do this. (I can't believe your can exploded though – ughh!!)

Hope you enjoy the Easter weekend with your beautiful family!

Loving this idea using the chalk paint in many ways, and hmmm, I think I have some of those Old Time Pottery bought for a dollar gold chargers I got a gazillion years ago in the attic, thanks for the idea! Good to see a part of your real life, to me, that's what makes it personal and diffidently something I can relate too considering we have five month old Labrador puppies, think mini tornadoes in spurts throughout the day, haha…
