My very dear friend, Meghan, created the most beautiful first birthday party this weekend. I am a lucky girl as Meghan lives only two doors down from me. She is my partner in crime when it comes to obsessing about all things creative and in the home. While she really should have a design blog herself, she is rapidly becoming an amazing photographer. This past weekend she hosted family and friends to celebrate her daughter, Clara’s, first year of life. This theme fits the birthday girl perfectly as she really is a sweet child {sugar and spice and all things nice}. I had my camera set a little too light for this, but the Sweet Shoppe backdrop was a piece of bead board. She painted the pink and white stripes on it. Genius as they are already mapped out for you. And the cake is too darling. She unwrapped Dum Dum lollipops and stuck them in the sides for the polka dot effect. Above the snack table, Meghan strung a pennant with photos of Clara over her 12 months. All gorgeous shots snapped by Meghan. All the little guests {and big ones, too} were asked to scoop up some treats and fill a bag to take home. We are still enjoying ours as the kiddos get to have something sweet from their bag each night after dinner. t h e d e t a i l s ~Printables: www.MBradleyDesigns.etsy.com ( a DREAM to work with ) ~Vintage candy: www.candywharehouse.com ~Stripey straws: www.shopsweetlulu.com ~Vintage canisters and scoops: my own from the kitchen (bought at Target and antique shops years ago) ~Pint-sized mason jars, ribbon, cupcake liners: Michaels ~Cupcake holder: Target ~Plastic tablecloths, plates, napkins, tissue for poms: Party City ~Runners: Curtains from my daughter Emma’s room (and no stains!) ~Backdrop (for candy buffet): beadboard from Home Depot, painted with leftover nursery paint ~Display "table" for buffet: dresser from Emma’s room h a p p y b i r t h d a y c l a r a Clara was sporting the most adorable vintage ruffled outfit for the party but went sans ensemble for the cake eating moment! What I loved most was not that it was breathtakingly beautiful, but that the most important thing to Meghan and her husband was enjoying Clara that day and being in the moment with their daughters. It was special to see. We felt honored to be included in such a memorable day. We love you, Clara!

It's so stinkin' cute, I can't even handle all the adorable details! And that is a brilliant idea to stick dum-dum in the cake for dots…so brilliant! I'm saving this in my inspiration files…now I am having major stage fright for my little ones party on Thursday, yikes!

This is so crazy. First, I LOVE your blog. I found it while googling blogs with fashion tips. Your blog looked so cute, therefore, I decided to follow you by email. Today, I saw my cousin's best friend, Meghan, on your blog. So crazy how small this world is. Thank you for such a fun blog.
