Clean, fresh, and inviting. That is exactly what how a neutral space can read. I have neutral spaces on my mind as I am making some changes around here! I am a bit nervous but super excited. My living room, dining room, and kitchen are about to see some changes. Cha-cha-changes. . . . are a great thing. I think mixing things up gives us a fresh perspective and a new found love of our home. And changes can be very small such as restyling a bookcase or changing out a few pillows. Today, I gathered up some of my favorite neutral images to show you how neutral can really be a shining star. While I will always be a lover of color, I am really smitten with a soft, neutral palette. Here are five ways to make neutral take center stage. keep it clean & natural … source – ballard Skip the fuss. Keep lines clean and simple. Embrace the trim work that you may have and let a calming color palette do the rest. Infuse natural elements such as woven baskets, rugs and a live plant. If you have a beautiful green view, let nature be a part of your room. mix your patterns … source – ballard I just adore this room. I love the pattern play going on here. While even the wood tones are neutral, the chair detail, rug and drapes all play well together. The mix of patterns keeps this room interesting and inviting. The energy in this space truly comes from pattern. involve texture … source –muskoka I may have died and gone to heaven in this space. What makes this work so well is the texture on the walls. The boards give the hallway interest as does the detail on the glass door. The black hardware helps to ground the space. Without the black, your eye would have no place to land. Such a beautiful space. Sigh. use small pops of color … source While creating a neutral space, it’s okay to infuse pops of color here and there. From the artwork up the stairs to the pillows on the settee, the space feels open and airy. The small pops of color give this entry a cheerful and welcoming feel. ground with dark accents … coco republic as featured in house & garden Can we all agree this image sings. I love everything about this space. The subtle pale gray walls and the pattern on the chair. . . all so good. The black frame and the dark piece of furniture help to ground the space and give it some weight. Of course, you can’t go wrong with fresh greens and a touch of brass. This all works so well together and still remains neutral. The majority of these stunning spaces rely on a mix of texture, pattern and natural elements to give them interest and beauty. If you are thinking of going more neutral, I hope this helps. Wish me luck as I work on some major changes around here. Squeal.
