Five Ways to Rock a Nightstand

October 10, 2014 by Courtney 9 Comments

Happy Friday, all! I am kicking the weekend off with another installment from the Five Ways Series. Today we are talking about nightstands. Sometimes it’s a spot where you might save and splurge or many times it’s a great chance to save some money and get creative. But no matter what route you take, nightstands shouldn’t be neglected. They actually play a HUGE role in how a bedroom comes together and they are often over looked. So I wanted to show you five ways to get creative and to pull together a sophisticated nightstand. rockanightstand ..1nightstands nightstandbeneathmyheart via First up is this gorgeous makeover by Traci from Beneath My Heart. Traci is one of the most infectious people you will ever meet {and she can tear it up on the dance floor}. Here she took a sentimental piece {it belonged to her mom} and gave it new life. Just goes to show you that a little sweat equity and some vision can really go a long way to creating a gorgeous, meaningful piece. 2nightstands vanityikeahack I adore this dresser. This Ikea hack is sophisticated and clean. A great combination. I love that she rolled with the white lacquered dresser with the white trim. I have this dresser in my daughter’s room {currently with stripes} and now I am itching to do this! 3nightstands nightstandchalkpaint via Melissa and Stephanie took this dresser to a whole new level. The best part is that it was free! The used dresser, that it. I think I grew up with this little nightstand. It had those fancy, lacey looking pulls. Did you have it to? I even had the matching desk. Anyhow, with a great two-tone paint treatment and classic bin pulls, this nightstand looks incredible. 4nightstands nightsandlillipadcottage via A few months ago, Kelly from The Lily Pad Cottage created an awesome nightstand from an Ikea piece. I kind of went bananas over this one. Again we have an awesome two-tone look with the natural wood and white border trim. The casters and hardware take it to the next level. This is a great example of how the little details really transform a piece and can set it apart from the crowd. 5nightstands nightstanddesk via And last but not least, it’s always fun to see a desk double as a nightstand. This is especially great in tight rooms. But it’s also nice to create a pretty writing desk and I have always loved seeing a pretty chair next to a bed. In fact, we are working on a similar situation with my current client. I just found the perfect chair for her desk and can’t wait to see it all come together. Love these looks. One of the best things I've done in my bedroom is clean out the top drawer of my two-drawer nightstand. I keep my glasses, notebook, calendar, reading material and other clutter in the drawer so that the top of the nightstand can be pretty. I've kept it that way for more than two years.

The doubled up desk/nightstand is my favorite! My apartment is very small so having a workspace and place to set my phone and have a lamp at night would be perfect! I may have to look into finding a table like this that can serve multiple uses.

Where did the nightstand in the first picture come from? Not the one in #1 but the weathered wood one? I LOVE it!

As we are putting the baby's room together, I love the idea of painting some old pieces that we have (especially my parent's old dresser from when they got married that I think we will be using in the baby's room). Thanks for all the wonderful inspiration that you always bring!

What are your thoughts on matching nightstands on either side of the bed? Part of me likes the symmetry matching nightstands creates, but I don't want a bedroom to look too matchy-matchy or cookie cutter.

Currently hate ours! Yes, we have the whole matchy matchy bedroom suite. Just have yet to figure out how to style them as they have a drawer and then a whole lot of blank space below that just collects dust. So want to find something different and break up the set.

All beautiful night stands! Yours are stunning Courtney. I've been busy this week painting that exact nightstand as in #3. It was in my grandmother's house. My niece is expecting her first baby, a baby girl due in December. I've painted it in a really pretty pink. The shower is tomorrow and I still need to finish putting the new knobs on it and line the drawers. Have a wonderful weekend! xo
