We are all set for our Fourth of July pancake breakfast. Using red, white and blue in non-traditional patterns, our table is ready to enjoy breakfast as a family. By mixing patterns and keeping the table fairly simple, it’s a look I can use other times of the year. After the kiddos run their 1K race, we will pop back home to our pancake bar. You name it, we have it as a topping! Here is a peek at our table and how I pulled it together.
I picked up this pretty floral fabric at JoAnn’s when I was there. I opted for something a bit more subtle. I thought these pretty flowers were romantic and they reminded me of a pretty European patio. It was $10 a yard and I need two for my table. But with a 40% off coupon my total came to $12. Done! I didn’t even sew it. The edges were perfect. The only thing I did was trim the white margin off of one side.
If you follow along on Instagram {@athoughtfulplace} you may have seen how I discovered some cute paper goods on clearance at Target. I found these cocktail napkins for $1. I opened them up and used them as a runner down the center of the table. I learned that trick from my friend, Kirsten, over at 6th Street Design School. {I happen to love her and her blog!} I also placed one under each white napkin to add color and pattern. The cute little anchors came with a cucpake topper kit that was also on clearance. They are attached to toothpicks and look cute tucked in each napkin ring.
I already had these lemons on hand in the fridge so I added them to the vase and paired them with an American flag.
The white roses are from our yard and nothing says all American pancake breakfast like a mason jar! The star ribbon is from Michael’s.

… Back when we got married, my dear friend, Suzy, gave us the darling blue glasses. They have always been a favorite of mine and add such a fun flare to tables. I remember her saying we would want something fun like this. She was so right! Thanks, Suzy! I know they were from Crate & Barrel but almost ten years ago. My how time flies.

If you are up for mixing patterns, just keep scale in mind. The tablecloth boasts medium sized flowers so I went with a very tiny print on the napkin runner. As long as the scale is very different and the colors coordinate {or are a great contrast} you are in good shape!
So this is where my family of four plans to devour plenty of pancakes on the fourth of July! It’s always a nice spot in the morning with the French doors open to the patio. The kids will be hungry after their race and we will need to gear up for the neighborhood party. I hope that you enjoy every second of the 4th. Here’s to good times with good family and friends.
Oh my! What a lot of spam comments! Here is a for real one: love your mix of patterns and subtle use of patriotic flair (the anchors, the stars, the colors) that doesn't just scream HAPPY JULY 4th. Let's let the pancakes do that all on their own, right? 🙂 These little touches (rather than just sitting down at your regular table) really makes a holiday special.
Yes. Boo on those comments. I marked them as spam. Thank you for the sweet comment. We are super excited for tomorrow!
What a beautiful table!! And I love the idea of the napkins as a runner. The anchors are the perfect finishing touch I think. Happy 4th!

Stumbled upon your blog a couple days ago and love it! Table setting is fun. I was wondering where the lighting above your table is from? Way cool. ????
