Friday Eye Candy: Make Room for Baby

August 10, 2012 by Courtney 16 Comments

Happy Friday! Out of respect for my  mom and her blood pressure, I should immediately state that I am not pregnant. But I am dishing up some super cute baby rooms on the blog today in honor of Natasha who just had baby Ethan, Emily who welcomed twins, and my friend Michelle who will be welcoming her baby boy very soon. It’s a baby bonanza. While they all have darling nurseries of their own to show you, I found some sophisticated baby spaces from Restoration Hardware Baby & Child that can inspire us all.  Truth be told. . . they are way more formal than my taste for a baby’s room BUT there are hidden gems in them all. Pay attention close attention to the artwork and lighting. Twin boy girl baby room Cream white baby blue nursery Make sophisticated artwork out of your child's name or initials, and don't forget to illuminate your gallery in the same way that you would in the rest of your home with strategically placed picture lights that will give out a warm and gentle glow when used instead of the large overhead light, perfect for those late night feeds. Cream aqua blue boys nursery Neutral color baby room design   Upholstered crib white blue nursery I don’t think I have ever seen a tufted crib before. Quite a luxury. While these might not be the most realistic images of nurseries {mine was always sporting a pile of dirty bibs and a pail of diapers} they sure are pretty to look at. What caught my eye the most was the way in which pictures, mirrors, and chandeliers were hung. Definitely some eye catching designs that can be translated into any adult space. I may have to borrow some of these ideas for groupings. What about you? Anything catch your eye? Happy Friday, my friends. And welcome to my new readers and facebook friends. It’s great to have you here. I have been busy organizing around here and will show you some of that next week. Enjoy your weekend.

What is it about a chandelier in a bedroom?? Love it. Agree with you about the artwork, all the soft groups are lovely.

These nurseries are gorgeous but so unrealistic!! There's so much white everywhere….it won't stay white 2 seconds after the baby is brought home from the hospital! And you're right….show me a stylish diaper pail in any of these photos! Whatever happened to the most-famous design mandate, "a house is a machine for living"? I think so much of the interior design world nowadays is focused completely and entirely on the 'look' and not about the actual function!

Those are all so subtle and lovely – and it brings up the point that nursery decor is more for the parents than the baby. I love the all white/neutral nurseries because they work for boy or girl if you don't know the gender (easy to add pink or blue accents after baby comes).

I always wondered if anyone actually put a crib away from the wall like they do in catalogues?!

Each design is gorgeous, but I'm wondering about chandelier-type lighting right above the cribs. Yes, I know there is no way a baby could reach it, but that toddler in the first photo… Toddlers are so ingenious and they find way to climb and reach everything. So, I'm in favor of all your choices–without any type of lighting directly over the cribs.

They are all magazine-worthy and beautiful. I wonder how many people really choose all that white with spit-ups and accidents?!?!?!?! I love the storage unit in the second picture and the changing tables that I assume are really just dressers in all of the pictures.

Upholstered crib…baby vomit. Yeah, *so* not seeing that work in real life anywhere, but pretty in a picture. 🙂

That tufted crib is beautiful! More like a museum than a baby's room, but still insanely gorgeous. Thanks for the shout out! xo
