Friday Eye Candy: Slipcovered Chairs

January 14, 2011 by Courtney 25 Comments

I am changing up my dining room. I currently have flowered slipcovers {which need to go, I know!}. I thought I would recover me chairs and add a fresh coat of paint. But I just can’t seem to get away from the slipcover. I love how they ground the space and with toddlers . . .you can rip them off and throw them in the washing machine.  Here are some beauties to look at. Wishing you a wonderful, restful weekend.   décor pad
student market   I apologize for the quality of this image, but this space has remained one of my favorites over the years. Everything about it. It says, “Come cook and relax!” hgtv This room is calling my name. The crazy graphic walls with the traditional rug and those chairs. Yes, Please. Colinandjustin.tv modern décor     house beautiful house beautiful house beautiful What do you think? Are you on board with slipcovers? Am I stuck in a rut? Hmmmm. Enjoy the weekend and on Monday I will announce the lucky winner of the Jylare Ann Photography photo shoot! {I am envious!}. You have until Sunday at 9:00 PM PST to enter. Good luck!!!!  Click to enter.

Somehow these images make slipcovers look amazing – I've always had a 'grandmotherly, chairs covered in plastic' association with them, hahaha 🙂 Considering I'll have a little boy running around in the next few years I think I'll jump on board (& bonus if my dining room could look as great as these!)

I'm down with slipcovers. I have a white kitchen table and chairs at the moment that look absolutely horrible and have been thinking about slip covers!

Those pics are so inspiring, good luck picking!

Great inspiration Courtney. You can't go wrong with slip covers in the dining room. That first image is one of my faves.

Your post just reminded me that I have 4 slipcovers tucked away in my linen closet that I used to use on my kitchen chairs. I just might have to pull those out, like you, I'm ready for a change.

i love the first room where they mixed the slipcover chairs with an upholstered striped chair. a subtle difference but allows the eye to rest!

That first image is really pretty and the room is kind of configured like what you already have so I can definitely see you doing something similar in your home. That blue graphic wallpaper is awesome- did you see on Nate that they have peel and stick wallpaper now- he showcased a similar looking pattern (but with floral branches) on his show yesterday. And CONGRATS on your 500 followers- very well deserved!! 🙂

I love that photo with the green covered barstools. Yes, it totally does say "come and stay a while!" I also love slipcovers with the monogram on the back. So pretty and I've seen people do the monogram with a stencil and paint – I could handle that!

If the hubs would go for it I'd have them in my dining room. I think they're so elegant (and practical with kids)!

    Have a great weekend!

I go back & forth on them. Some I really like, some I really don't! I don't have them myself because I just really like my chairs but who knows in the future. Have a great weekend!

I am a firm believer in slipcovers! We purchased two slipcovered couches this fall, off-white, and with 4 kids I love the fact I can wash & air dry them. Also, I can see when they get dirty, I never really knew on the other couches.

I love the slipcovered look. I am debating about adding some to different chairs we own. I am more a casual, please sit down, kinda gal. I am over the formal, we never use stuff.

I'm totally with you, it's tough to beat the practicality of slipcovers, but upholstered furniture is so clean and gorgeous…and permanent! (c: I don't envy you the decision, but I'm sure it will be lovely! (c:

I agree, that HGTV kitchen is one of my absolute favorites, I don't think it gets much better than that. I wish all of my furniture could be slip covered.

I'm a real fan of slipcovers. It's so nice to pop them off and throw them in the washer and I like the look of them. I love the dining room in that first photo but I think my favorite is the fourth photo with the green bar stools. What a wonderul open space and so warm and inviting. I like the mixture of their chairs. I look forward to seeing your dining room, Courtney.
