So this is what I looked like last night: {robynn’s ravings} T h e G o o d Let’s begin with The Good. I am excited to be guest posting for Michaela today! She is such a sweetheart and has invited me to be a part of her “She Loves Me, She Loves Me Not” series. Go check out what I am digging this week and what I am not. And any topic is fair game so prepare yourself for a random list. T h e B a d . . . While enjoying a glass of wine and relaxing with my husband last night, a full glass of wine was knocked over. T h e U g l y . . . Um, you thought that was the bummer part. Not at all. Said glass {full glass} of wine duh-renched my laptop. The entire laptop: the outside, the inside, the keyboard . . . yep, the whole enchilada. And let me tell you. It smells horrible. I am speechless. And for the record, I am not blaming anyone. It was an accident. I fully understand that! I am just speechless. I of course am using my husband’s laptop to compose this. So if anyone is especially tech savvy and has some skills in getting out of an, “I spilled red wine all over my computer” type of situation, give a holler. I could use you right about now. In the meantime, I plan to focus on The Good! So head on over to Michaela’s sweet blog to take a look at my list!

My husband says "if it's a half decent laptop it (the insides) should be sealed. Let it dry out in a warm area for a couple of days and then try and switch it back on. If it doesn't work, you're stuffed"
I know how you feel. My mobile for for a whole wash cycle the other weekend with the darks (just as well, it was a deep purple) but sadly after all the drying out, it's still not working.
Good luck!

I don't know what kind of insurance policies you have but my personal articles policy covers my laptop and they replaced my old one when my roommate accidentally knocked it down the stairs.

Ohhhh that sucks. Im sorry, im not tech savvy. My hubby is… but he isn't here for me to ask, here's hoping nothing was damaged and it will dry out and work again!

Courtney that sucks!! Don't you just hate when stuff like that happens!! I have spilled water on mine and once it dried it was ok. Can't wait to read your guest post!
Ann says
Heading over there to see your guest blog post…
And oh that wine-laptop incident…
it will really piss anybody…
hope you'll find a way to make it work again.

Oh no! I do know it is best to try and dry it out first, if it's still wet and you try turning it on it could short out. Mark placed his I-Phone in a bag of rice (it helps draw the moisture out)…his went in the washing machine! It worked, however, now it is starting to act up. Apparently, as time goes on whatever did get wet still corrodes. Try using compressed air to blow out all the nooks, crannies and places where connections are. Good luck! Loved the post at Michaela's!!

I think the conventional advice is to turn it off, take out the battery, and leave it to dry (like by a not-too-hot heater or in a sunny spot)before trying to turn it on again…good luck!!! What a mess. I had a bottle of water spill in my purse a few weeks ago – I realized almost immediately but it was still too late to save my camera and phone…laptop would be way worse, though. I feel for you!

Janell @ Isabella and Max says
Oh…my…goodness! What a drag, all the best getting it up and running fast. I once put my cell phone through the wash, after letting it dry out for a couple days I used that phone for a couple more years! I hope you have similar good fortune!

Found you over at Michaela's blog! Ugh and that stinks about your laptop. I spilled coffee on mine once, and turned it upside down (opened) so they keyboard/hard drive could dry out. I also took out the battery and let that dry separately, and after about a day or two put it back together and it worked. Anything besides water is harder to take care of (so says my IT tech of a brother-in-law when I called him crying about said laptop), but hopefully that takes care of it for you!
Carmel @ Our Fifth House says
Oh man that stinks girl!
Aubrey {All Things Bright and Beautiful} says
Okay the face you posted looks a lot sweeter than mine would've looked…and it probably would've been followed by a lot of @#$%!* and &*?@#!!!! I hope someone with magical powers over computers comes your way…and quickly! Heading over to Michaela's…
Annette {One Perfect Room} says
Oh no! I've heard of the while sticking your phone in rice if it gets liquids on it, but I'm not sure what to do for computers! 🙁 Maybe the Geek Squad at Best Buy could help you out?
Megan {Honey We're Home} says
I'm so sorry girlie! Hopefully it will dry out!!!!
Chassity (Look Linger Love) says
I spilled a lot of coffee on my laptop keyboard in Dec and and thought it was done for. Surprisingly, after abou 3 days it was just fine. I had been researching new laptops!
Traci says
Oh I'm sooo sorry! What a mess. Maybe it will dry out & work fine???
Michaela says
Oh NO! Not good! I've heard for cell phone's you can dry them out by sitting them in a bowl of white rice to let it absorb the water…that may or may not be true for laptops, too! hehe (: Thanks for the shout out, too! xo
Green Door Girl says
oh no! I can't even imagine, it would be like cutting off an appendage to not have my laptop, okay maybe not that severe, but pretty close! Goodness, maybe a blow dryer or something that is good as sucking up liquid, so at first use a wet/dry vac and then just dry the heck out of it!
jessica says
oh no!! :-/ hope it dries out…
loved your post on michaela's blog!! : )

Oh no! I am so sorry!! I have had that happen before but luckily it was just the keyboard and we were able to replace that and everything was ok. I hope that you can get it fixed and that you didn't lose anything!

Oh no! Keeping my fingers crossed that once your laptop dries out, things will be working again. And I am now moving my coaster, which sits next to my laptop, to the other side of the desk!
Lili says
oh no!!!! i hope everything's ok….
Allison says
I'm so sorry, Courtney! I'll say a a little prayer for your laptop that maybe once it dries out, it'll work again!
Gail @ Sophisticated Steps says
Ooh. THAT can't be good. I guess you have something to "wine" about alright.;)
I once [temporarily] held a giant glass of lemonade in my teeth while I held my phone, purse and attempted to lock the front door. A new phone was critical after my teeth lost their grip. Oops.
