Today is the day! I am crazy excited to share Dave and Jenny’s new master bedroom with all of you! It was such an honor to work in partnership with HomeGoods on this endeavor. Almost the entire room was created with items found at HomeGoods and the space is entirely different. The darling couple wanted a place that would be relaxing inviting and I think we achieved just that. This post is heavy on photos so I will keep the chatter to a minimum. Without further ado, here is the brand new bedroom.
While the overall palette is quite neutral, the mint, navy and coral add just the right amount of color and energy. The walls are Pale Oak by Benjamin Moore and the striped wall detail adds instant charm. The white paint color is Clear Moon by Behr.
This is an active Southern California family, so there are a few touches that beckon to the nearby ocean. I couldn’t resist the crab pillow and love the Greek Key trim that is in keeping with our color scheme.
This room gets gorgeous natural light and I wanted to keep the window treatments from feeling to heavy. I sewed navy ribbon trim onto the Lenda drapery panels and created two pelmets from a really pretty HomeGoods shower curtain. What you can not see very well is that the room leads into the bathroom so there is another window treatment in there as well. The two pelmets balance out the tall window panels in the middle.
It’s a really soft, velvety fabric and was a piece of cake to work with because it has such nice body. The navy trim was again used on the pelmet boards to compliment the drapery panels. We kept their existing drapery rod but sprayed it silver. Great way to save money if you are doing a makeover.
These unique glass dishes were purchased in a bundle. I love them because they are perfect for taking off your watch or earrings at night and having a place to put them. I placed one on the cabinet as well as one on Jenny’s side of the bed. Another easy way to introduce more pattern.
A white pitcher filled with fresh flowers is always a beautiful way to add color and life.
This nightstand provides a great amount of storage and I really like the texture the baskets bring to the space.
I added some sentimental touches to these HomeGoods frames. I framed numbers that hold special meaning to the couple and backed them with patterned paper. The lamps adds color and texture which is a win win.
I almost threw my body on this dresser while shopping. The couple is a big fan of West Elm and this really reminded me of something you would find there. We replaced their existing dresser with a cabinet so I really wanted to give them some drawer space back. The color and warmth of this piece really play well with all of the white going on in the room.
The gold zebras were too good to pass up. Now Jenny can easily send off a note to family or friends. They are resting in a bamboo tray which adds more texture to the dresser.
To contrast with the wood and the bamboo, the mercury glass vase adds glamor and sparkle. The pink marble box is a pretty feminine touch and is great for jewelry.
This basket was the first piece I bought for the room and the inspiration for the colors used in the space.
While Dave has a more masculine piece on his side of the bed, Jenny’s beautiful pedestal table is a nice contrast to the dresser next to it. We needed the storage so I wanted to keep her end table simple and round. This is a Lane piece from HomeGoods and I really wanted to take it home with me!
Some master bedrooms can feel so formal and stiff. Keeping the pillows in an informal arrangement keeps the space inviting.
The Cynthia Rowley throw is unbelievably soft and has a beautiful ombre effect. It actually gets light towards the middle of the bed. Really pretty.
The white mirrored cabinet adds some glamor to the space and is echoed in the white mirror above the bed. The graphic pattern on the cabinet is also in keeping with the graphic detail on the window treatments. I wanted to create a gallery wall to allow the TV to blend more harmoniously. In doing this, it becomes another piece of the gallery wall. If you remember from the before photos, it was pretty much the only thing on this wall.
Three out of the five pieces I chose for the gallery wall already had art, so I needed to fill two more. I used a navy and white small print wrapping paper for one frame and a larger print for the second. It has the navy and teal from the window treatments and is a tote bag I found in the check out aisle. You never know where you will find art!
The couple also plans on mounting roller shades under the pelmet boxes to pull down at night. This will allow them to have gorgeous light during the day and privacy in the evening.
If you made it though all of the photos, I am seriously impressed. I honestly wish you could walk into the room. I wish the photos did it justice. It is light and bright and you just don’t want to leave. A huge thank you to Dave and Jenny for jumping in with both feet. It was fast paced and crazy at times. They were so easy to work with and giving them this new space was an amazing experience for me. Thanks for following along on this adventure! I don’t think you can fully appreciate this makeover in it’s entirety unless you click on the before photos. It’s always so fun to see what the room looked like when Dave and Jenny submitted their space.

Really beautiful, Courtney!
This room is just beautiful! All of the details are perfect and no better place to find them than HomeGoods!!
I read that you used BM Pale Oak for the wall color, but could you please tell us the name of the lighter paint you used on the striped wall? And how wide are the stripes? (I'm guessing about 12 inches)
What a fabulous room! Great job, and thanks for sharing!
Good grief I almost fell over because this is such a beautiful space!! I am more determined now to make my bedroom over, and to stop by HomeGoods more often!! You did a fantastic job!!!
It's beautiful indeed.Fresh and peaceful and relaxing-and even simple objects are used with a twist.
What I also find amazing is that even if there is a lot of you in it (stripes on the wall, mint colour… to mention just those 2) it doesn't look like your house. That shows you worked as a real interior designer!
If you ever come to France, please stop by!
Such a thoughtful and kind comment. Thank you so so much. You'll be the first one I call when I pop into France!!!
So so pretty
It's beautiful! So impressed with how fast you pulled this together! Amazing!

The personal details show how much you cared about this sweet couple while paying attention to the little things~ like making his side more masculine and the wall art with their special meaningful dates. It's fresh and modern yet so classic. Thanks so much for showing what one can do beautifully by using a little creativity and staying true to those involved. Your tastefulness has made this one of my favorite makeovers. 🙂 xo
