When we made the move from California to Tennessee, I brought a pair of custom drapes that I had never used. They were an extra set and I loved the classic stripe. They have worked really well with the neutral design in this space. But there is one giant problem. This room faces East and gets a crazy amount of sunlight every morning. And while it is beautiful, our guests don’t always need to wake up with the sun. Especially when they are two hours behind. It’s time to raise the drapes to the ceiling and have them made with a blackout liner. Today I am sharing what I plan to go with and share the sample fabrics I’ve ordered.
OUR GUEST ROOM
Having a dedicated guest room has been the biggest blessing. It’s so easy to welcome in our friends and family, even if it’s last minute. Part of why we chose this area is because we know Nashville is a draw for so many and we aren’t far from the airport. And while these drapes have been lovely for the last two years, it’s time to get more practical. Bottom line, they were made for a smaller window. And because we are replacing them, I will order longer drapes so that the rod can be hung just below the molding.

The empty basket on top of the console table is where we place snacks and waters when guests visit. So far it has worked out really well. I am always on the hunt for a pretty dresser to go here but it’s a challenge finding one that is narrow while still providing decent storage. The surveyor’s box (to the right of the flowers) belonged to my grandfather who was a contractor. He etched his initials in it and I love having this piece in here. If you are looking for a vase with a ton of texture and interest, this one is really beautiful.
The plan is to go with these drapes. I will order them in 75″ per panel so that they are very full. A blackout liner will allow our guests to sleep in. The current rod ($28) is a favorite of ours. Having said that, these new panels will be quite heavy so I will upgrade to this one.
SAMPLES I ORDERED
I ordered drapes from Two Pages for our bathroom and am so impressed with the quality so I feel great about ordering from them again.
You can order the book of fabrics for $2.99 or up to five fabrics for free. To be completely honest, I am worried about losing the stripes so I think I may use the striped fabric to make pillows for the bed. Thinking about installing wallpaper on the headboard wall down the road, so I plant to keep the drapes nice and neutral. Which one would you go with?

You have great taste! I love all the colors you chose for the drapes. I think the birch would go nicely with your bed head and foot board. Tough choice – they are all nice!
