Halloween Subway Art: Chalkboard Style

October 13, 2010 by Courtney 5 Comments

I recently stumbled upon  Polly Want a Crafter? blog {the break off blog from Remodelaholic}. Yet another place for me to spend hours and hours! Cassity was featuring a project by Allison from A Glimpse Inside.  When I  saw Allison’s darling “Spooktacular” Subway Art Tutorial I knew I had to copy it somehow.  You can see all the details right here.

This is so darn cute. As most of you know, I have a chalkboard that hangs in my kitchen and I love to switch up the quote or message that is written on it. So I took the VERY VERY easy way out and simply did my own version in chalk. The original is definitely a much better statement, but the chalk version makes me smile and will do the job for the remainder of the month. Thanks for the inspiration, Allison!

So I think I like it hanging in it’s original place the best. It has a prominent spot in our kitchen. Since it is rather busy, it pops on the wall rather than getting lost amongst the Halloween décor. It just occurred to me that I could actually use colored chalk and get a very similar look to Allison’s. {I am a little scared that it took me that long to realize I could use colored chalk. Maybe a trip to the store tomorrow!} What do you think? Do you have a chalkboard you can doll up for the holidays?

I love it! We have one in our kitchen as well, and it is currently bare. My daughter has an ENTIRE WALL in her room. We hadn't thought of decorating them for the holidays! And yes, she uses colored chalk…LOL Okay, I know what I am doing later today.

Very cute idea… I love the idea of doing this for Christmas with Christmas in all different languages.

    Thanks for the inspiration!

This is so cute- and I was thinking of colored chalk too. I like your different fonts and the little spider and web:)
