Head Over Heels For . . .

May 12, 2011 by Courtney 22 Comments

These candies in a jar are from Selfridges. They are darling. Pineapple cubes IMG_0363 Melanie from You Are My Fave is also darling. She came up with these. They are the most amazing party favors. She used Frappuccino bottles, Martha Stewart labels and spray painted the tops. Genius. I first spied these on Michaela’s blog. IMG_0375 And the cute just keeps on coming. Check out these darling vintage party hats. I will take a set, please! Christie over at Three Pixie Lane created these beauties and shows you how to make your own.   And lastly, Vivienne from the V spot stole my heart when I saw these. NO THEY ARE NOT JUST ANOTHER SET OF TISSUE POM POMS! I was just making some for my son’s party and not too happy with the $2 a pop price tag {colored tissue is expensive}. This smart lady spray painted white tissue paper!!!!!!!! I had even thought of that, but quickly dismissed the idea thinking the paper would be ruined. Nope! She says it works like a charm. Great idea! I was just so excited about all of these so I had to share! I guess I have party on the mind with my son’s just a couple of days away. Hope you are all having a great week and I so appreciated all of the kind comments about our new mirror!

Those lollies (as we call candies in Aust.) in the jars are so sweet. Love the citrus colours.
Another good idea re: saving money for tissue paper pom pom's, is to buy tissue paper in bulk from gift wrapping wholesalers online. Significant savings per metre!

Courtney, your party images are funnnn!
You can also dye white tissue paper with diluted food coloring, then just squeeze them out and let dry. I did a big batch of white coffee filters last year with the left-over dye from coloring Easter eggs and made oodles of flowers with them. Great for kiddos!

I absolutely love those frappuccino bottles filled with candy and labeled like that. Brilliant idea. I always save jars and remove the labels (terrible on a fresh manicure), but this gives a whole new meaning to recycling bottles and jars. Too cute!
