Heart Melting Moment: Best Buddies

October 7, 2010 by Courtney 8 Comments

There are times when I look at my children and my heart completely melts. Mommyhood can be tiring, frustrating, overwhelming, and confusing. And it can also be magical. My four year old daughter loves to help me wash the car {hence the swimsuit in October}. So as an activity {moms, you know what I mean} we set out to scrub the car clean. She actually does a fabulous job on the wheels. It’s a win win. I set up my two year old in the garage with his riding toys and an activity table. All was well. But before too long, I lost my car washing helper. Without any prompting from me, she sat down at the table with her brother and taught him how to paint with water colors. IMG_6603 She was patient. Kind. Helpful. Encouraging. She was proud. He was focused. I was in awe. IMG_6604 And the best part about it was that she did it all on her own. And when he finished his first piece of artwork, she clapped her hands and said, “Grady, it’s amazing. You did such a good job.”  That’s all I needed to fill me up.

Precious. I remember these wonderful times when my children just made my heart swell so big I was sure it would burst. Sweet, tender moments. She is a wonderful sister. You should be so proud. Hugs, Marty

Awww! I loved those moments when my girls would surprise me with their love for each other. And, at 17 and almost 21…they still have those moments!

That is so sweet. I'm so glad you snapped those pictures and shared them with us. Look at how cute he is holding the paintbrush in his little hand and focusing on his art! And the little sippy cup of milk! Why that gets me too, I don't know. One more thing- And YOU are an awesome mama- she wouldn't have known to be so kind and patient if she hadn't learned it from you:)
