Holiday Shopping Guide: For the Little Ones

November 12, 2014 by Courtney 20 Comments

So when I was little, my brother and sister and I would get the Best catalog {do you guys remember that?} and sit on the couch together. We would flip through page by page and each person had to point to one toy they would want as fast as they could. You couldn’t pick the same toy. I am not sure why this was so entertaining but we would do it for hours! The other day my dear friend, Lalita, and I had lunch at Nordstrom Café and walked past the Nordstrom Toy Shop. I had no idea Nordies amped up their toy offerings. Did you? When they asked me to share my favorites it immediately reminded me of my siblings and I choosing our favorite toys. So this post was created with my children. We had a blast pointing to things online that we would recommend and of course found some tried and true keepers, ourselves. stripedpajamasetchasketch And because I was walking down memory lane, I had to snatch up the Etch A Sketch and Simon. Such awesome memories playing both of these with my family. As a kid, I didn’t realize what a beneficial game Simon really is. It’s so awesome for memory development and for distinguishing between notes. Kind of cool to see my son, who is very musical, obsess over this. I swear it’s a piece of cake for him and much much harder for my daughter and myself. stripedpajamas

Huge fan of the headphones as they limit the volume level. That’s key when you have little ones. stripedpajamassimon

She is a little artist so the easel wasn’t a surprise. I have to say that my favorite on here {other than Simon} is the Melissa and Doug Cookie Dough Set. We have that and the children have played with it for years. I am always a fan of anything M & D because the quality is unbeatable. stripedpajamastoys stripespajamaparty pajamas These last two photos crack me up. I was taking pictures of them with their new toys and they started to giggle. Suddenly they couldn’t stop laughing and it was the cutest thing to listen to. These two are best buddies {most of the time} which is more than I could ask for! And kids in matching striped pajamas get me every time. Don’t forget Nordstrom has free shipping and free returns so ordering toys online is sort of dreamy! If you miss any of my gift guides for the holiday season, you can click the gift on my sidebar to take you to what you’ve missed. Also just an easy way to keep it all in one place in case you need to go back and check it out. giftsforchildren Thank you to Nordstrom for partnering with me on this fun post. The kids and I had a blast choosing things for the shopping guides! All opinions are mine {and my kids’ this time!}.

Love, love, love this post both for the photos and the "hints". Let me know which might be Santa's gifts and which can come from Grandma! 🙂

My grandparents had a cabinet full of games. Simon was always the game that all the grandkids wanted to play!

Isn't that funny. My parents now have a cabinet full of games and it always brings back such good memories. Reminds me I need to hang onto things for the later years!

Candy Chemistry??? Holy Moses, forget the iPhone, I want Candy Chemistry. For my grandchildren, of course. I'll just be there to supervise…

This is such a good post and your children are darling. They get cuter and cuter with those beautiful smiles. I can almost hear the giggles through the screen.

    Have a Happy Thanksgiving, Courtney!!

They are adorable in their matching pjs!! Cutest kids. I loved Etch A Sketch as a kid. These are great ideas and helpful as I have a few kids to buy gifts for on my list. I want those pjs in my size and that VW tent! How fun.

Love this list – the M&D products and the cookie set are a huge hit in our home too – and I love the quality and the fact that they aren't easily damaged by little kiddies! x
