Hi friends. Normally I would be wrapping up our week on Monday but with the extended holiday I stepped away from the laptop and find myself going over the highlights on a Wednesday. If you are in the states, I hope you had a wonderful July 4th celebration. It really is such a special day and we savored every minute. I vote for four-day weekends year-round. Anyone else? Here is our holiday weekend wrap-up.
BREATH OF FRESH AIR
We kicked off the long weekend with a picnic dinner down at Salt Creek beach. Our poor son has had pneumonia for the last two weeks and he just needed to get out of the house. While he is better, he is still getting his energy back so chilling with this view was just what he needed. Pneumonia is no way for a boy to spend part of his summer. It’s been awful to see him so sick but we are extremely thankful that he turned the corner for the Fourth of July weekend.
TOGETHER TIME

Salt Creek beach park is just such a beautiful spot to relax with the family. We always seem to bump into someone we know. We picked up Chipotle on the way (per our son’s request) and kept it very easy and simple. Love this little twin of mine. She is such a bright light and makes all of these outings so much fun. I had many of you ask me about this sweater when I posted it on Instastories. This one is very similar and I also thought this one was adorable.
NEW RESTAURANT FIND
We also discovered a new restaurant. It’s called Pub Thirty-Two. The owner grew up in Ireland and followed in his family’s footsteps owning amazing places to eat. This one is farm to table and I can’t say enough about the food. Everyone loved what they ordered which means we have found a new spot. This is the burrata salad and is was absolutely fantastic. While there it was sweet. My son leaned over and whispered, “Do you come here on date night?” I told him we hadn’t yet but that we soon would! You can catch up on our date night posts and favorite spots here.
FOURTH OF JULY
Fourth of July morning found us cheering on all of our friends for the annual race. We always run but we decided to save our son’s energy for the rest of the day and we enjoyed just being out and about with everyone.
Then we cruised back to the house for our annual pancake breakfast. We let the kids top their pancakes with any toppings they can dream up. They look forward to it every year and devoured them at this table. You can get caught up on the backyard progress right here.
TRADITION
It’s safe to say my kids get into the spirit of the day! We have spent this day with the same three families for the last eight years. It’s really such a magical way to honor our country and truly take in just how fortunate we are.
The firework show around here is legit and this year did not disappoint. Every year I cry.
I don’t know about you but I am moving very slowly this morning. Just because it was a late night and I couldn’t fall asleep once we got home. The four-day weekend felt like such a gift. Now it’s time to actually get some things done. But boy is it hard. If you are feeling the same way know you are not alone! Let’s get this done, friends.

Dave and I love Pub Thirty-Two. Kind of a random location, but so good! We also recently went to North Italia (in Irvine) and loved it – pretty sure you blogged about it on a date night a while ago. Love finding yummy new places.

Couldn’t agree more. So random but so darn good. I am so happy to toss it into the rotation. And yes! We LOVE North Italia. Happy you like it, too. We should all go together. xo
