How to Organize the Garage for Summer

April 11, 2013 by Courtney 8 Comments

With summer right around the corner, we are getting things straightened up in the garage and storing our rain boots so we can make room for pool towels, beach toys, and flip flops. We spent five hours cleaning out the garage. It was painful but so worth it. I created some new additions to our garage so that we can quickly get in and out of the house for the park, pool, or beach. I am sharing all of the details and summer ready tips over at I Heart Organizing. I am honored to be contributing over there and would love for you to come check it out. heart1 … heart9 …heart2 Sunscreen and towels are piled up and sorted so we can easily garb them. heart5 The white lace bucket is from Ikea and is great for storing the spray sunscreen. heart6 .. heart7 While most of our nice shoes are kept inside, I like the shoe bookcases for tennis shoes and shoes we rarely use. heart8 These hanging bins are from Target. I simply used 3M hooks to attach them to the wall. heart10 The hanging bag makes it easy to grab what we need and go. I don’t keep it filled as sometimes we need just sunscreen to play outside. We don’t always take goggles or specific items so having everything sorted and ready to grab works best for us. heart12 The striped rug is from Target. Be sure you use a non slip pad under it or secure it down in some way. You don’t want anyone slipping! heart14 My absolute favorite tip is the basket for flip flops. It makes life in summertime so much easier for us. I am not hearing, “Mom! Where are my flip flops?” ten times a day! heart13 … To see more details about the garage tips head on over to Jen’s blog. With all of the inspiration she has over there, you may want to get comfy as you will be there a while!     enjoy your day!

What a clever girl to use those polka dot buckets and command hooks! 😉
Looks great — my garage looks like, well, I won't say. I'm a lady.

Hi, Came here from Jen's blog. I love what you have in your garage entry. It's so cute and functional. I'm in Socal too but I live in the San Fernando Valley. I wish we could put away rain boot. We need more rain and of course now we won't get any till next winter. Often I feel almost guilty for our nice weather when I read about the horrible storms they have everywhere else. Have a great weekend!
