Keep it Pretty {Simple Solutions from Bloggers}

August 21, 2012 by Courtney 9 Comments

One of the reasons I love being exposed to blogs is because of the amazing inspiration out there. I stumbled upon a couple of easy breezy ideas for keeping things pretty around the house. I was inspired by two other bloggers. When my friend Emily showed off her wooden bowl for crayons, I knew I had to do the same. I picked up a small salad bowl from Home Goods for only $3.00. It’s perfect because not only can my kiddos see all of their crayons, but it also looks pretty darn cute on the table. It pretty much stays on our table 24/7 so this is a good solution for us. woodenbowl This idea was one that was linked up to my Keep C.A.L.M. and Organize On linky party. So simple and one of those things where you say, “Why didn’t I think of that!” Lura from Domesticability thought of a cute way to store her make-up brushes here. To recreate her idea I used a glass vase I already had and picked up two bags of these little gems from The Dollar Tree. I like the sparkle they add to my countertop. makeupbrushes Thank you to Emily and Lura for inspiring me to keep it pretty around here. What about you? Have you recreated anything from the blogosphere or Pinterest lately? The inspiration is everywhere.

    I like the idea of those little salad bowls–one for each kid! 🙂 Thanks for the link. I've found myself sticking all kinds of everyday things in little bowls and baskets lately. It just makes you feel better, doesn't it? 🙂

    I have a giant stainless bowl for our crayons on the breakfast table right now – so much easier for the kids to put them away. Your make-up brushes look so pretty!

    We are ALWAYS in search of art supply storage. I just picked up some cute tin buckets from the $1 Spot at Target this weekend with chalkboard labels for pens/markers/colored pencils!

    i LOVE your vase, gems, and make-up brushes. I have a brush holder but they are all clumped together. With this it seems like you are able to see which brush you want and they all stand up instead of leaning on each other. When is work done so that I can go buy the materials!?
    Thank you 🙂

    Both clever ideas and now you've inspired me to dig out my "little gems". I mostly look for, and use, recipes on Pinterest.

    Keep writing…
