Kick-off Summer: Easy Teacher Gift

June 16, 2011 by Courtney 21 Comments

I have to thank my brilliant friend Cassie over at Hi Sugarplum! for this darling idea. Have you seen all of the great summer finds at Target lately? They have an incredible line of paper goods. So Miss Cassie came up with the concept of tossing them all into a cute bucket and giving them as teacher gifts. Look how cute it is: 100_4478 I wrapped up two already and gave them to my son’s preschool teachers. I love this idea because these are cute things you would never by for yourself AND they are consumable which means they won’t end up taking up space in the house! And how fun to have all the makings for an impromptu summer BBQ or picnic. The bucket includes dinner plates, dessert plates, napkins, cutlery, cups, pinwheels, and a tablecloth.  Each bucket cost under $15 to put together. Something tells me I was probably tying it on and tearing out the door to get to school on time! tags What about you? Have you put together some easy and inexpensive teacher gifts this year?

Great idea using consumables. Teachers probably still get a lot of mugs. I think I might do a spin off and make a 'picnic for two' without the food. Have all the plates, napkins, bottle of champagne etc. Might be a good wedding shower or anniversary gift.

Cute idea! I love Target and all the great $1 items they have just inside the door.

For my son's kindergarten teacher I went to Belk (a local department store) and purchased a gift card. But since I didn't want to just give her a card, I bought a Godiva chocolate bar there as well and then stopped by and asked the Clinique girl if they still had any free samples left (they had recently had a Smoothie promotion) and they did, so she gave me two lip glosses, a tube of lipstick, and a small bottle of lotion. I wrapped up all the goodies in some pretty tissue paper and tied it with a bow and attached the card. Makeup counters are usually very good about giving away nice samples that can be added to gift bags, etc.
