I recently added a little something to our living room walls. It’s a tricky room as it is surrounded by windows. On one wall we have the brass corner frames and the other wall has been blank for some time. I decided to hang a magazine rack on the wall. My husband thought I had lost my mind. When I told him my idea he said, “Like in a doctor’s office?” But when he saw it installed, he actually really like it. I have a small obsession with thumbing through my shelter magazines so it’s really nice to have some of my favorites so accessible. To label them, I used Mircosoft Publisher { a favorite of mine }. I copy and pasted a pattern that I liked {the chevron} onto my document. Then I created a text box on top of it, filled it with white, and typed out the label.
And thank you to HomeGoods for the $20 magazine rack. I like the rustic feel it adds to the room. And thank you to my sweet friend, Sheila, for the gorgeous peonies.
Besides my magazines, some of my favorite décor books sit on my side table next to the couch. After the kiddos go to bed, my husband and I like to chillax. With Pandora playing and some good books to flip through I am a happy camper. Do you have some favorite reads lately? Sharing with Tatertots and Jello!!!
great idea!
I have to ask…where did you get that beautiful big white pillow with the bird on it? Have I missed that in posts before??? ha ha

I have been wanting to hang something for my magazines , right now they sit in "read mode" in a basket. I would love to organize them this way.
I really like it too! I wouldn't have necessarily thought of it before but it works! I like your labels too:)
I have that same magazine hanging thingie in my office for paper flow! Thank goodness for Homegoods! 🙂 Also – LOVE the labels, you old smartie pants, you! Super cute!
Great idea! I love the rustic touch it adds to the room. I have the new issue of House Beautiful too! I love when the designer's talk about their favorite paint colors. I have found a lot of good ones that way! For coffee table books, I love the new 'Black and White and everything in between' by Celerie Kemble. It's a good one!
Aaah I LOVE your living room Courtney!!!! When my living room grows up it wants to be just like yours!
xoxo, Sarah
Love this idea Courtney! My magazines are a wreck! Well they are just in a basket, not a wreck, but they aren't in a place where I would see them easily and flip through them. I should get a rack and hang it in our office. So yea, I'll be copying you. 🙂
Perfect texture and dimension, Courtney! And, your custom labels are such a fun touch!
I have been toying with adding one to my office. Love the labels you created!! And so does not look like the plastic ones hanging in my doctor's office! LOL
What a great addition! Love the racks and they fit right into the room!
Looks so sleek and organized! It really elevates the mags into functional art/accessories. Makes the room more personal.
Love those cute little labels! I love the look of the wire rack. Your living room looks so cozy – perfect for chillaxin'!
Courtney…this is such a great idea! I had the same magazine rack in my Homegoods cart the other day. (Seriously…I am not kidding!) The only reason I took it out is because I couldn't think of a place in my office to display it. I love how you thought out of the box a little bit and have given it a special place in your home. I am crazy about those labels too! xo
love the magazine rack. i'd like on in my bedroom on the wall near my bed! 🙂 And love your new geometric throw. source please! XOXO
I almost purchased the exact same one, but thought it would look a bit too messy. Yours looks great!
I like it Courtney! Your labels add the perfect touch to it, too! Love the sweet little bird sitting on top of your design books.
Great idea.. I love your living room..it looks happy, inviting, and stylish!
I have that exact same rack!!!!!!!!!!!!! Your room looks great, so comfy and stylish!
That looks great! When I first started reading your post, I thought the SAME thing that your husband did. But like him as well, I was pleasantly surprised! It looks great! And I understand what you mean about the accessible magazines (my boyfriend doesn't understand why I kept hem)! The room looks great! :] Summer reads? Any book that is for my Intro to Science Fiction class that I'm taking online. Horrible. Maybe I will steal some ideas from these comments!
I saw that same magazine rack at Marshalls last month for 19.99 and wanted it but didn't get it (money's tight right now). I loved it then and I love yours now and what you did to dress it up! Nice purchase! -Karen
I'm really digging the magazine holder. It brings a whole new texture to the room and allows you to add some new pops of color! By the way, I still can't get over how similar our decor tastes are!

I REALLY like it- not like a doctor's office at all:) It's great to have your mags close at hand and still tidy looking. They can get out of control so easily!
Love that rustic element that the rack brings — and also so nice to have your favorite mags so accessible. And your mom's party turned out beautifully! Every detail was just perfect!
Great price, FAB solution. I love how it looks, and those labels are swoon-worthy! You have created the perfect place to curl up and read your favorite magazines.
xoxo!
