Where do you keep your magazines? Are they in stacks around the house like mine? They just keep taking over different parts of the house over here! The current issues reside on our ottoman but the back issues stack up on my desk, in a living room cabinet, a small basket in the kitchen, and by my bed. Sort of over it. The thing is, I love my magazines. I can’t possibly part with them as they are a constant source of inspiration. And depending on what project I am working, I always see something new each time I peruse them. So while at Target {my second home} I picked up these little babies in the $1 section {the section my hubby calls the Target Toll . . .since we always pay a $3-4 toll each time we pass by . . . he has a point}. I quickly threw them together and started sorting. For some reason I had temporary amnesia while at Target and thought I only subscribed to three magazines. Oops. I was wrong. But I sorted nonetheless. Then I printed the names out on cardstock. I chose navy print and the font I used was QwitcherBychen in size 36. So I will grab three more of these and I should be set. I will keep them near my office space. I would show you, but it’s currently undergoing a renovation {which is code for it’s a major mess}. Have you seen how Megan from Honey We’re Home organized her O Magazines. Scrumptious! Do you have a clever way of organizing or displaying your magazines?

That is a great idea. I have just inherited a ton of magazines from my mother in-law and have been trying to work out a nice way to store them, you just solved my problem!! Thank you 🙂

Headed over the Target toll bridge today. Something has to give with my magazine habit and I think you just inspired me 🙂 Thanks for sharing the label details too – they are perfect.

I somehow get 8-10 magazines via subscription…and none of them the shelter mags I love…which I end up picking up at the grocery. So my house drowns in un-read magazines. I'm seriously reading Glamour Jan 2011 by the pool this summer?!?!?
I tear the sheets out of stuff I like, then recycle the rest of the magazine. I've got irrational fears of becoming a hoarder, so I'm a chronic purger. The tear sheets should go into my inspiration binders, but they usually pile up on the kitchen counter.
wow, this is way more than you wanted to know.

Somehow, I have not been to Target in a couple of months! (Which, thinking about it now actually amazes me since I LOVE me some Target!) Looks like I need to pay them a little visit soon. And I love how your husband calls the $1 section Target Tolls. Too funny!

I'm off to Target the minute they open! Thank you so much for this inspiration, Courtney! I have taken over our linen closet and guest bedroom closet with my magazines and I was tired of it, but I was unwilling to part with all of my magazines. This is perfect! Love the font you chose. Megan has a great rainnbow of O Magazines.

I used to keep all of mine as well. I had post-its stuck to the covers to remind me of why I was saving them. And then it got to the point that it was out of control. So years ago, I broke down and rid myself of them. Now, I rip out the pages I want to keep and file them in categories in accordion files. I have one for outdoors, one for indoors, and one for recipes. Each of those is divided up by room/theme/meal/etc. I also have three separate folders for holiday ideas, craft & building ideas and table settings. I feel like it's much easier to find something now.

That O Magazine organization. It's too beautiful for words. I'm just going to stare at it now.
Carissa @ the Fabulous Design File says
I organize mine the same way and it works great for me! I can't stand to get rid of my magazines, and it's amazing how many you can pack onto a bookshelf with these boxes.
Courtney {a thoughtful place} says
I do have one tear out binder as well . . .for those images that I just love. There is just something about sitting down and flipping through the magazine that I just can't get enough of! Glad I am not the only one.

When the magazines are replaced by the new month's issues, I tear out all of the ideas I don't want to get rid of. Then, I have binders that have sheet protectors to put the ideas in. The binders are organized by different section {different holidays, home, DIY ideas, etc}. It works for me. Then, when I know what kind of project I want to do, I just pick up that binder and flip through it.

My husband says the same thing! LOL
I saw those yesterday but resisted, but I am loving what you've done. Great Idea. A trip to Target his afternoon is in order… 😉
Traci says
I tear out the pages of the stuff I like & want to keep & put them in sheet protectors in binders. I still have stacks of magazines because I never seem to have the time to read them & they get backed up!!
Shelley says
Unfortunately mine are all in a pile on the bathroom floor 🙁 Oh, and then the rest are hidden in a HUGE drawer in the buffet in my kitchen. The drawer is so full I can barely open it! I think I might have a problem…
natasha {schue love} says
Great idea! I would love to do this with my inSyle mags…they always have a fun color and would look great organized like this! 🙂

Love the Target toll… so true! I got so sick of magazines lying around that I started to just tear out what I wanted, loved, or knew I should keep for future reference. Now I have a portfolio/binder/notbeook thingy (official definition) in my nightstand that I store it all. Every once in awhile (but never often enough) I'll go threw the pile to sort, read, keep, etc.

I have magazine mayhem right at my feet!
Aubrey {All Things Bright and Beautiful} says
I'm pretty sure there is no controlling the mayhem at my house, with or without the magazines…but if I could I would definitely get these little guys! They turned out so perfect…and I love the "target toll", that is so spot on! Clever hubby you have there!

You found such darling boxes to store your magazines in! I love the prints you chose. I have a hard time parting with magazines as well.
Megan {Honey We're Home} says
I have magazine overload here too! I give the catalogs and mags I don't want anymore to our babysitter, but I still have a pile on my kitchen table (look back at today's post w/ James in the Ikea chair and you can see I was sorting my magazines too!) I adore your new font!!! And thanks for sharing my O mags!
Carrie @ Hazardous Design says
Target toll, lol.
I finally broke down about 6 months ago an organized all my magazines into Ikea magazine organizers. Yours are way prettier 🙂

I get rid of my magazines as soon as I read them. I pass them on to my mom or bring them into work for the break room. If there's a particular page I want to keep or a recipe I like, my hubby photocopies that page for me at his work. If I weren't passing the magazines along, I'd just rip the page out. I then keep the copies organized in home and garden files.

I soooo need these bad boys! Why doesn't my dollar section have them yet?! I am a magazine-aholic–from beauty magazines to home and even cooking ones (albeit I never cook). Thanks for the fabulous idea!

Oh smart! I love those green files. I currently throw mine in a rustic basket in my room then throw out the ones I don't want after it fills up…it's a great solution…not (; I need to work on that!

I just read the next few paragraphs. It is my opinion you add a considerable amount of energy to build this particular article. I really thank you for get the job done

Target is my second home too! I didn't see those when I was there today in the dollar section. I could use them in yellow or aqua for the mags in my office.

Um best font name ever. Just sayin'.

Oh girl, mine are a mess! Smart idea picking up the file organizers – the Target toll – hilarious and oh so true!

Those look super cute! And I also learned very quickly that I had magazine subscription amnesia as well 🙂
Simply LKJ says
I don't keep many. I don't have many subscriptions, just found most were ads and the info I truly wanted could be found online. I keep only a few current ones, and when done looking through they get recycled. I used to get several, but then woke up to reality…I was throwing good money away!
Natalie says
I am the same way! I have piles of magazines everywhere from the den, to the bathroom, to our bedroom. I too hate to toss them! I am totally going to Target this weekend to look for those files, a great excuse for me to go find many more things at Target!
Married...with a Pup says
What a great idea! I definitely need to do something like this. I'm not sure where I would put them after the organization project!

I also have a magazine obsession. I always tear out the pages that I want and then I scan them onto my computer so that I'll always have them, and I also keep the hard copy. I also tear off the covers because one day I want to frame a bunch of them and hang them up or something. I want to try to keep one intact issue from each year so that when I have kids I can show them our "old" magazines
