Slowly but surely we are making some new changes to our master bedroom. While it is sometimes that last room people get around to designing, I think it is one of the most important spaces to pay attention to. Our lives can be so hectic and stress filled so it’s really a space that should offer a relaxed and calm vibe. I often think of hotels I like to stay in and draw upon those for inspiration. I am a big lover of fresh white bedding. The crisp white pintuck duvet is from Crane & Canopy and I am crazy about it. I have always loved the look and was thrilled to finally have it in our own room. If you are not familiar with Crane & Canopy, they are a favorite of mine for high-quality and beautifully designed bedding, duvets and sheet sets. The walls are painted “Smoke” by Benjamin Moore and our headboard was a DIY project of sorts which you can see here. The light and fluffy feel of the duvet makes it seem like we are climbing into a bed of clouds. I often get asked about the numbers on our wall. That was one of the very first posts I did when I first began blogging! The numbers represent the dates of my children’s birthdays. The bench at the end of the bed was a HomeGoods find. The subtle stripes on the wall were created by painting the same paint color but in two different finishes. The Euro shams {gray and white} and large wall mirror are from Z Gallerie. The soft pink pillow was also a HomeGoods find. I am lucky to have a hubby that is perfectly secure with a little pink! ,,, One of the things I love most about this room is that it gets flooded with natural light. It is my very favorite spot in the morning. I have to admit it’s a tad hard to get out of this bed now. The luxurious 400 thread count makes sleeping in this pretty duvet a dream. Crane & Canopy invited me to share some tips on creating a guest ready space. I often draw upon my past experiences as a guest. I will never forget how our family friend, Mrs. Kinney, made her guests feel. I also remember staying with my dear friend, Tina and how she went out of her way to make us feel welcomed and loved. Here are my top tips:
- place fresh flowers by the bedside
- include a little treat for the late night sweet tooth
- consider leaving a journal and pen for guests to make plans or write about their travels
- magazines and water are always an easy thing to make accessible
- a small gift . . . nothing too extravagant. . . makes a guest feel welcome & loved

Not surprised we chose the same bedding! I remember that early post about the children's birthday dates! I still love that subtly striped wall. I remember that post too!

Love the room. It’s peaceful, calm and bright. Can you tell me the paint color on the walls please? I’d like to use it in our master. Thank you.

I see the wall color is BM smoke, but what is the beautiful corresponding gray on the ceiling? I love the combo!
