Master Bedroom: Design Update

October 30, 2013 by Courtney 20 Comments

Hi all! I am popping in a bit late today as we have been crazy with Halloween goodness. Spent most of the day in my son’s classroom helping with a Halloween celebration and we spent hours carving pumpkins with the kiddos last night. We also jumped on the bat wagon thanks to my girl Emily. The children traced bats and we are hanging the outside for the trick or treaters that will soon be on their way! But I wanted to share with you a few of my plans for our master bedroom. It is so crazy rare that I work on one of my own spaces. While I may do a project here and there, it is my clients that see the full room designs. So I am pretty darn excited to make a few changes. While we really like our room right now, it’s just time for a little bit of change. I have used a certain fabric with at least three of my clients and I can not get my mind off of it. It hast stood the test of time for me and it’s now destined for our own bedroom. Here is a look at our room now. casey grace22 Collages IMG_2216 copy to see more of this space you can go here and see how we customized the headboard here We love the wall color {Benjamin Moore Smoke} and plan to keep it. We are really just focusing on the textiles, a new rug, and accent wallpaper. We may switch up a small piece of furniture or too as well. Here are the fabrics I am using on the bed. roomfabrics Schumacher Hot House Flowers, Bleecker and Cannes Awning Stripe And I am in the middle of choosing wall paper for behind our bed. I would love a really bold neutral pattern. While I never shy away from color in most rooms {like here and here} I really do like to keep our master bedroom a serene space. So while we will keep the smoky blue and white, I will add a bit more beige back into the mix. I also have my eye on this wing back chair and this bench. wallpaper wallpapersdirect.com Promise to keep you posted as we make progress. It is slow and steady around here as our room will most likely take a backseat to other projects. But baby steps are still steps, right?! What about you? Have you set aside any time for your own space? Is your master the retreat you want it to be? Haagen-Dazs has chosen us to be brand influencers on their “Moments for Me” campaign. We are in the process of changing our Master Bedroom as well. Not the wall color, but bedding, drapery, accessories, etc. The bedding alone has made a huge impact! Can't wait to see it all come together.

We are in the process of decorating our MBR, and it is quite challenging! I'd love to have a big mirror for one of our walls, like the one you show in the second picture above. It's beautiful!

Oh girl, this is going to be goooood! Love those fabrics, and love the idea of wallpaper!! Will you hang it yourself? Wonder if it's a whip? I'm eyeballing a little wall and wondering if I can go for it. Happy Hump Day!

Almost identical to the plan I had for our master bedroom. Isn't it funny how we have so little time to work on our own homes? Hope you and the kiddos have a wonderful Halloween!

So glad you were inspired by my super-complicated DIY bats 🙂 I'm crafty like that… Ha!

Love the fabrics you're looking at. That floral is a great choice.

I know how it goes! It seems like I'm more busy with everyone else's house as soon as I decide to do something on my own! I love the fabrics but I also love what you have on there now! I agree the paper would look great back behind there. The one you have on here is very serene and feminine and pretty! Good luck!

I like all the changes that have updated your bedroom beautifully. I have a bedroom suite very similar to yours. I took off the mirror and replaced it with a round mirror from Kirklands. I love how it updated the room but now that I have seen your replaced hardware, I may have to take that on as well!! One of my friends could not believe that I would trade mirrors on the dresser but hey…it made me feel so much better!!

I love the large photo with extra wide mat above your headboard? What size is the frame? Is that a king size bed?
