Master Bedroom: Layers of Bedding

September 11, 2014 by Courtney 31 Comments

So I need to be honest. I don’t really want to get out of bed in the morning. It’s gotten too comfy! I’m not complaining though. Did you know it’s National “Make Your Bed Week?” I didn’t either! But I am a bed maker. To me there is something so great about walking into your room at the end of the day and seeing a freshly made bed. Crane & Canopy reached out to see if I would share my bed with you all this week. You now I am a huge fan of white bedding but our room was missing something. I think at long last, the look is complete.

The Linden Gray Border duvet and shams made all the difference. They plays off the gray panels of our custom bed and is just enough color to make the bedding standout more. We still have our beloved Valencia Pintuck duvet on the bed. That is the one we cuddle up with. I had an extra lightweight down comforter in the house {that we use for guests} so I filled the Linden duvet with it and it makes for the perfect decorative addition to our bed.

I must say I am a huge fan of the zippered duvets and shams. I pulled all of the bedding off of my daughter’s bed this week to wash it and those darn duvet buttons kill me every time. They take forever. The zippers on these are genius. Oh, and hidden so you can’t see them. Even better.

Something that is key for me with bedding is that it comes out of the washer and dryer looking great and these duvets do. I am not about to iron my duvet covers. Sorry, mom!

duvetandfittedsheets

So many years ago I saw a video on how to fold a fitted sheet that changed my life. Well my laundry, life! I have been folding the fitted sheet like this for years. My husband laughs every time I do it because he has no clue how it all goes down. But it’s crazy easy. So I am excited to show you a video from Crane & Canopy today to give you tips in case your fitted sheet fold job is a hot mess. And yes, I am crazy enough to tie up my sheets and place them in the linen closet. It’s not that I am OCD, but I can’t stand not knowing what size the sheets are. We usually stick to all white sheets for ourselves and guests so they end up all looking the same. It takes 30 extra seconds to wrap the string around them and tuck in the label. When in use, I just keep the tie and label in the linen closet. how to fold a fitted sheet . . .

Oh man, thank you for this video!! I can NEVER get fitted sheets to fold properly. It may seem unimportant to many people but it's one of my major bug bears!

Do you have any recommendations for duvet inserts? There are so many mixed reviews I just can't make up my mind!
And I love your night stands. Would you mind sharing where those are from as well? Thank you!

I get one of the guys to help me fold the clean sheets, and they are confused by the fitted one every single time!! it's so funny…but a totally genius way to fold them. Love the C+C duvets…so soft, yet still crisp! Love my coral one.

My mom taught me how to fold a fitted sheet years ago. It's how I impress my friends. All these how-to videos are going to take away my trick! Lol! It really is super easy. I love the duvet. I need to look into that set. I think it will look nice in my bedroom. I have the hardest time with duvets so I've avoided them and just used a plain comforter for years but it may be time to give a duvet another go. The zipper sold me.

Your room is beautiful. So serene. My mom was a nurse (and I went to nursing school for a bit)…we were "taught" how to fold sheets and make the perfect bed. LOL

I'm such a fan of Crane & Canopy's bedding and the grey border pieces are perfect in your room. It looks like your bed was custom upholstered to match! And zippers – genius. That is exactly how my mom taught me to fold fitted sheets ages ago and how I still do it. Love the shoes too 😉

Ah! How exciting to fin that your wallpaper is the same that I have in my dining room!!! I LOVE it still everyday 😉 (as we all know sometimes we can tire of certain patterns) and this one remains classic yet modern 🙂 I’m on the prowl for a coordinating/similar wallpaper for the living room that is open to the dining room – any suggestions ?!? Would love anyone’s input/options 😉
