Mirror, Mirror on the Wall

May 10, 2011 by Courtney 54 Comments

A while back I posted about my dining room and making changes. Some of you suggested switching out a dark clock I have for a mirror. I had never thought of that and LOVED the idea. See, your comments really do matter! So I have been on the hunt ever since. It was love at first sight when I saw this beauty. Here she is in her new home. {and I apologize . . . the photos are a bit washed out as I am playing with new settings on my camera”}. IMG_1346 I have had my eye on the Portico mirror from Z Gallerie so when I found this one at Home Goods I was doin’ the happy dance in the aisle. My children can attest as I had them in tow! Portico Mirror – Z Gallerie And the price tag of $110 was far better than $269. IMG_1352 Here is a reminder of the dining room before: IMG_8171 While I liked our dining room, I was ready to go more neutral. I wanted to move on from the red and update the look.  Slowly but surely it is coming along! IMG_1350 IMG_1355 Hard to show in the photos, but the mirror reflects all of the outdoors really nicely. Anytime I can bring the outside in I am all about it. IMG_1364 These were the flowers my daughter insisted on cutting from our yard for mother’s day dinner they prepared! IMG_1370 I was sitting on the floor of our living room playing cars with my youngest {for what was way too long . .  I could barely stand up!} and couldn’t help notice how much I like the view of my new mirror from here. Thank you to the readers that suggested I go this route.

Isn't it amazing what a mirror can do for a space? I love the cuts on the border of yours, reflecting all that light so beautifully!

The clock definitely looked heavy compared to the mirror. I am really impressed how it reflects the light and drastically increases the brightness of the room. I also think the certain are a high impact change.

Ha- I was one of the readers that suggested a mirror! 🙂 I am also laughing because I've been considering that mirror for our bedroom, above the bed, but haven't decided for sure. I really like the price you found yours at much better:) And the light fixture is perfect with it. BTW, what settings did you have your camera one? Over the weekend I read the 3Boybarians 31 Days to a Better Photograph series and have been playing with my camera settings too!
