Good morning. How was your weekend? As planned, we charged through a lengthy to-do list while watching the Olympics. I have always been enamored with the games and love that my children are now, too. Their favorites are swimming, beach volleyball and gymnastics. The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. So while the weekend wasn’t exactly the most exciting, it was productive and packed with family time. Here is our Monday Morning Wrap-Up.
First up is a huge thank you to my friend, Allison. When I first began a blog to share ideas I had no idea I would establish real friendships and relationships that would enrich my life. One such friend sent flowers to us to welcome us into our new home. It was one of the best surprises and these flowers have been making all of us smile for days. Makes me want to pay it forward as soon as possible.
Do you remember moving as a kid? I do. I remember making giant forts from the wardrobe boxes. My children set up store fronts in the backyard. We’ve bought a ton of flowers and bracelets from them. Let’s just say business is booming!
And my little designer in training picked out a new light for her room. I love it. And thank you to daddy for hanging it. I bought it in the store but had to drive back because I didn’t realize it didn’t come with a lighting kit. Bummer. But this gives you a good idea of the direction she wants to take her room. We are in no rush to finish and enjoying the process of working on it together.
In home decor news, Serena & Lily is having their huge annual sale. Darling things are 40-75% off. These stools were $225 each and are now $99.
One of the blessings of putting your life’s possessions in boxes is that unpacking forces you to pause and look through things you haven’t seen in years. Back in our college days, our friends made photo collages to hang on the walls. Did you do that? This particular one had this quote on it and it stopped me in my tracks. I am so very close to my college girlfriends and we had no idea how prophetic this quote would be. We have all been through so much in such a short amount of time and the triumphs and tragedies have created stronger friendships throughout it all.
In style news, my mini me and I took our Cabana Life rashguards on our recent trip to Big Bear and lived in them. I honestly love these. This exact one is on sale and so is this scallop trim rashguard.
And after two straight days of non stop working in the house, we got out with good friends for a family dinner. Life is always about the people you spend time with and we feel really lucky to have these sweet faces in our lives.
We are kicking off our very last week of summer. How the heck did that happen? Didn’t it just begin? So the kids and I are going to take advantage of having time to take Grammy to lunch and pick out a new backpack for my daughter. My son wants to re-use his from last year. Score. So we are off. Wishing you a great start to your week.

Allison is such a dear. The flowers are gorgeous. Glad to see you were able to get out from underneath the boxes and have a great evening with friends. Good for the soul. Oh, the memories of playing in boxes!! I always say, kids prefer the boxes to what’s in them. LOL
Enjoy your last week of summer break. Most of the kiddos started back here today, and our oldest is back in the classroom. I truly feel this summer went by faster than any before, and we don’t have kids at home!!

Allison really is such a kind friend. Such a big heart. I LOVE that you can relate with the boxes! Yes! Such great memories. And I totally agree that the kids have always loved the boxes more than what is inside. I always share that with my friends that have younger kids. Save your money! Ha. And yes. we are thinking this summer was the fastest one yet, too. Not fair! Trying to enjoy while still getting our ducks in a row to begin the year. Hugs.

Hi Courtney — I recently discovered your blog from the Better Homes and Gardens feature and it’s so great. I can also see from the tear page above that you went to ND — I’m an OC girl and an ND grad too, so now I really will make sure to follow your blog! (Great Nordstrom picks, by the way!)

Hi Cara! Kindred spirits. I love it. I am so happy you reached out. Go Irish. Thanks for popping in. Would love to bump into you some time. Hope you’re off to a great week.

Courtney, would you mind sharing what you wear underneath your rash guard? I have one but am confused what to wear underneath for appropriate coverage. I tried it by itself and it was too revealing. Thanks!
Courtney says
Hi Sarah. Of course. I always wear my swimsuit or a bralette. I hope that helps. You could easily wear just a tank (the ones with the shelf bra) under as well. I hope that helps. xo
