As I type this, the rain is coming down and there is a chill in the air. It’s refreshing to have a nice Fall morning to wake up to. Planning to enjoy every minute of it as the heat is rolling back in later this week. How was your weekend? Ours was a mix of being really productive around the house as well as quality time with family. Here is our Monday Morning Wrap-Up.
I kicked off the weekend with our favorite cinnamon coffee cake and fall flowers. Trader Joe’s is always my favorite for both of these things. These mixed with the Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin candle from Bath & Body Works creates a warm and inviting Fall scene (thank you to my sweet friend, Erin, for the candle).
Our date night this week was right on the heels of not feeling great, so a movie was just what we needed. We hit up the “fancy” theater where you can enjoy a cocktail and a movie at the same time.
Let’s just say his casual movie night outfit was much nicer than mine. I’ll use any excuse to wear my favorite Converse. We watched Sully and it was absolutely fantastic. I was blown away. Even more amazing was hearing from a reader (after posting on Instagram) that she was a passenger on the plane. What are the chances? I am hoping to hear more from her about her experience.
I finished the wallpaper in our powder room. Super excited to show you. It turned out just how we had hoped and now it’s time to style the room. Stay tuned. I picked up a ton of tips along the way that I am happy to share in case you want to take the plunge. It’s removable wallpaper from Tempaper so it’s very forgiving to hang.
My new Better Homes and Gardens arrived and I was so excited to see my friend, Jennifer and her beautiful family, in the issue. Their renovation is inspiring as is her blog!
This was the moment that stole my heart this weekend. My sweet girl, who is playing softball for the first time, pitched during this week’s game. Her bravery and composure blew me away. If you knew this little one in real life you would realize how special this was. I wanted to run out on the field and hug her. I spared her the embarrassment but my heart was exploding.
Lastly, we are working on an outdoor dining space in our yard and it’s coming together!!! The chairs arrived and my husband strung the lights. The table went in last night making this spot ready for friends and family. We have always wanted to be able to gather our entire family around an outdoor table so this is a big moment for us.
We are all still on a high from last night. Our Aunt and Uncle have been in town and it was a joy to have them come spend time with us last night. We just wish they lived closer so we could spend time with them more often.
Off to enjoy the rain and catch up on laundry. Let’s do this, Monday.

I love sports for our daughters, it provides them with such confidence the longer they play, not to mention other valuable lessons as teamwork and dealing with success/failure.
Courtney says
Oh, I couldn’t agree more, Shelley. We are really seeing that with our daughter. And the more she plays, the more she loves it. Building their confidence is priceless. And you are so right about learning all about successes and failures in a supportive atmosphere.

Your date night looks awesome! I know exactly where this is. Unfortunately it’s out of our price range. My hubs and I hit up the dollar theater in Irvine. LOL. I actually picked up a copy of Sully’s book at the Newport Beach library bookstore. He had inscribed it “Always remain calm”. I also recently listed to his book on CD during my drive to and from work. He’s awesome!
