Good morning! What a weekend. We worked our tails off organizing our garage. Isn’t it funny how getting everything in order literally affects your mood. It feels so much better walking out there and I will share soon. I think I will cover our rolling racks like I did in our last home (seen here). We also tossed in a group date night and our daughter’s last softball game for the season. Here is a bit of our Monday Morning Wrap-Up.
SURPRISE NIGHT OUT
Last week we surprised the kids with tickets to the Penguins/Ducks hockey game. They were so excited and I have a fun trick to share with you if you’re headed out to an evening event with children. My husband is from Pennsylvania so we have the Steelers and Penguins covered when it comes to cheering!
We loved watching the Penguins warm up and it happened to coincide with game 7 of the World Series so it was super fun to watch much of that game on the big screen of the Honda Center while the Cubs pulled out a win. Also just fun to do something out of the ordinary grind during the week. The kids were so appreciative which made it even more fun for all of us.
GETTING ORGANIZED
Here is a sneak peek of our garage organization. Nothing fancy! Just some matching tubs and hand written labels but it feels so much better. I will show you more of it soon. I still have one more pile of junk belongings to go through and then we should be good to go.
TIME TO CHILL
After hours in the garage, we treated ourselves to a cold beer out on our table. I have a fun shoot coming up in this space and will be very excited to show you.
ESCAPE THE SCENE
Ok! One of the BEST nights out in a long time!!! Have you heard of the escape room concept? So freaking fun, my friends. If you are local this is called Escape the Scene. Essentially you are locked in a room that is filled with puzzles and clues. You work together and try to solve the crime in less than one hour. We were setting the record at one point and the got seriously derailed! Ugh! We all can’t wait to do another one and redeem ourselves. Highly recommend for a fun night out with friends. Also just very thankful for this fun crew. Always such great conversation and so fun to be around.
PLANNING AHEAD
Just FIY, you can snag the plaid throw for $31 and today you can have it monogrammed for free. Plus free shipping. I think this would make a gorgeous gift for anyone this holiday season. Even a really thoughtful teacher’s gift.
SEASON FINALE
Our Sunday wrapped up with the last softball game of the season. So very proud of these girls. Most of them had never held a softball. My daughter really loved playing and even said, “I never thought I would actually like playing softball.” As parents, it’s always hard to know the fine line between offering activities and forcing them to try things. We certainly didn’t force her but suggested she try something new and just see. She is so grateful and it’s been such a poignant life lesson for her. On her own terms, she is seeing that just trying something can be life changing.
What will you try today? This week? This month? I am thinking on that, too. In any event, I hope you have a really great Monday. Let’s hit the ground running, my friends.

You’re outdoor table has me all ????????????. I agree that it is a hard balance between encouraging our kids to try new things and forcing them into something that just isn’t a good fit for them. I love when they find a new joy or passions in something unexpected.

Isn’t that the truth. Such a delicate balance and yet if we don’t nudge there are so many things they may never discover. Thanks for the sweet compliment on the table. We are really enjoying it. Have a great week. Thanks for stopping in.

Thanks for the tip on the paid throw! Its a perfect gift for my sister, who sits out at soccer and baseball games all of the time. Perfect for Christmas!

Oh that makes me so happy. As soon as I saw it I felt the same way. A great gift and one that is useful. Hope she enjoys it!

Thank you! Our garage really needed it. When we moved, we tossed anything that we didn’t know what to do with in there. Not sure my garage is very glamorous, but things have a place now!

Thanks Courtney! I just started my garage floor prep yesterday for using a Rustoleum kit. Do you recommend the Epoxy Shield, or the Rock Solid? I’m done with the cleaning, degreasing, scraping. Now onto the patching step. I’ve got to get it done before the weather changes! Any tips in general? I live in CO now but grew up in Tustin and love reading your blog. I too loved Back Bay Rowing Co.!

Oh I love that you used to be local. Let me talk to my husband when he gets home as he is the one who tackled it. I am so proud of you. You’ll love it when it’s finished.
